I purchased a cabaret with Hangly Man, because it is what I played, in multiple venues, growing up. My understanding is that adding high score saves to an original Hangly Man board would be challenging, due to space limitations on the eprom.
Jump forward, I found a SUPER ABC board online. I really like it, but there were three things I didn't care for:
1. Hangly Man was incorrectly named, "Pac-Attack". I took care of this. I used a hex editor to rename "Pac-Attack" to "Hangly Man", and I burnt a new EPROM!
2. Free Play mode cancels attract mode (like the original). Does anybody have a solution to allow an Attract Mode to play when set to "Free Play?" I have added the slick "Coin-up" button, but people do not seem to notice that.
3. High Score tables are not unique per game. I doubt there is a solution for this, without a major overhaul. So, a person playing "Ultra Pac-Man", which scores much higher, is compared to another player on Pac-Man. I guess it doesn't matter too much, since the board allows buy-ins to continue; however, I prefer to compare apples to apples.
4. Does anybody know an easy (hack) way to make my original Hangly-Man board play the attract mode in "Free Play" mode?
