Free Star Castle and Mr. Do in Sunnyvale, CA (not mine)

So this ad has been listed since this morning and I assumed they were long gone. But I finally decided to go ahead and call and yep, he still has them. He bought them at Super Auctions a while back and has completely gutted them with the idea of restoring them. Even bought new side-art apparently but he's tossing them. Nobody has picked them up. He sent me a pic and they look like huge projects....a lot of work. But if you are in the area you should run by and grab them for parts at least!

I have 2 full size arcade games worked at one time ( Mr Doo and Star Castles ) there in pieces and not sure what parts are there but if you know how to work on these old school games you might be able to bring them back to life instead of them going to the dump. There are new logos decals and other stuff for Mr. Doo you have to look through my junk.
I also having a junk sale might need ask for beer donations? See me email for pic's of the games........... Long Live Mr. Doo and Rock and Roll Thank's for Looking
contact info Email at [email protected] or call and ask for Eugene (408) 245-1137 Sunnyale

I saw that too and assumed they would go quick. Although the gutted thing does make it sound like a PITA. Sad part is that he says if no one takes them they will go to the dump.

Yeah, and they look like they are on their way there now from the pic. I wanted to include it but it's a .xps file. What the heck is a .xps file anyway?

I was on my way today at lunch but called him after really thinking about it and canceled. The cabs were hollow! no fronts or backs. Just sides and rails.

An xps document is Microsofts version of a PDF.

Yeah, he said people kept bailing on him. If it was closer I'd go get them just for the boards and monitors. Might even leave the cabinets where they sit (if he was ok with it) since they are clearly in the dump heap already anyway. I'm about an hour and a half from there. It's close to where CAX was so he should have listed them over the weekend.

I can't figure out why he gutted them so far for a simple restoration. He said they were in pretty nice shape before he did that to them.

I just got back from there(cinematronics stuff always gets me interested)... He said his nephew wanted them so thank god I did not have to take them!!. If I had been able to see the pic, I never would have went.. Here is the scoop.

Star castle has most of its side art. But the front of the cabinet is pulled off (its there behind the cab, and could get put back in). The monitor to SC is still in the cab. I think the wiring too. Did not see the boardset anywhere.

I saw 2 star castle marquees. he has 2 monitor bezels. I think if he said he had a new side art, I think he means new bezel as I could see it ontop of the cab in cardboard. But it could be just a used replacement. For some reason star castle is upside down..

The mr do, was in a gorf cab. Completely gutted. Cabinet looked sound, but painted black. Looks like there was a decent monitor bezel there.. Did not see any boards Saw a go7 chassis loose, but did not see a monitor.

For some reason he has a joust marquee there. Maybe joust was in the gorf cab?

THE ONLY THING worth go after there is he has a tx-1 marquee pinned to his wall. I told him I would ask to see if anyone needed it. Looks like it might have been NOS.. Like this one:

I don't think anyone would be able to/want to save the 2 cabs. Just thought I would give you guys a heads up. The guy is wheelchair bound looks like living out of his garage. So I think he is getting some help to clean up his living space. So he really needs the help to make them go away..

Shit.. he just called me back and wants me to come back to get the star castle..

On the phone he said they were complete but in parts. So perhaps the rest of the stuff is there....somewhere....but yeah, not worth the hassle from the sounds of things. Sorry you wasted your time.

Well I emailed this morning, figured since I am in Sunnyvale I might as well go take a look at lunch and he just responded saying they were gone. Who picked them up? Did they have all of the parts?

I got the SC. Trust me, you did not want to get it.. He kept calling me to take it and I asked twice if I could pass(I went there once already and was very happy to walk away).. In the time it took me to get back there, his nephew came over and took the star castle marquee and the new(?) SC monitor bezel that was in the cardboard.

There were no boards. The keltron is gone and the power supply is gone. the only useable parts on it might be the monitor gel and the back door. The only thing holding the sides together were the monitor and the top of the cabinet(thats why the cab was on its head on a dolly).

the gorf cab was actually in a little better shape. Sound cabinet, but filled with misc trash (I think it has 2 or 3 control panels in it, I am not sure if any were right for gorf.). No monitor no boards. He says his nephew was going to take it. I think there is no way in hell anyone could/would save the gorf when you saw it.

I gave the guy $10 to take the crap. Had I known the keltron was gone, I would have given him less. If you really want a SC cab, I have one I was probably going to crush.. Don't expect much, but at least its not falling apart..
