Free shipping

The business model somehow works to some extent though. You sure don't get a lot of parts sales when the prices are really high, but the margin is huge on the few sales you do get.

The current ebay store pricing structure must be set up in a way that you can make money selling 1 or 2 percent of your listings per month. I would probably be doing that myself if I had more stock. I would assume that business model is the way to go, since the majority of the guys who do it for a living seem to do it that way.

Yeah, his prices are high but there is a difference between a guy doing it for a hobby and a guy doing it for a living. He has overhead and has to make money.

It shouldn't even be called "free shipping" if you jack the prices sky high and include shipping in the price. Anyone could offer free shipping if they jack the price up enough

Jump quick on everything! That Double Dragon at $180 won't last!

Hard to tell because the OP removed the post, but I think the reason sellers offer "free shipping" is because by doing so the buyer cannot leave feedback on that category. Thus it is one way of ensuring that five stars are easier to attain. Since the fees paid to ebay by a seller are dependent on the overall rating of a seller, this becomes a monetary decision.

Either way this is in the wrong section.

It's his business he can price his stuff for however much he wants. It's called capitalism. Would i pay his prices? No, not unless he had something i REALLY wanted. I would say coinopwarehouse's prices are closer to reality, but he doesn't put alot of work into the machines before he sells them.

Yes, he can price whatever he wants just like a collector. But if Bobby Collector puts a WTS Tron board for $700 do you see people piling up on his thread? No you don't. Just because he took a passion and made a business out of it doesn't mean he should get shit on by collectors. It was the same thing in stand up comedy. Comics are all buddy buddy till you turn successful at it. Sorry that is the only analogy I can relate too.

*edit*. FYI I wasn't the successful one in that story. (feel free to joke about that, but be original)

I love when you are up on your soapbox. After the whole im leaving thing, your words dont have any weight to them.

I am sad to see all of this price policing on him. Yes, the prices are higher than we would want to see, but when you include the shipping in there (especially on the full cabinets), it becomes very reasonable.

He has a lot of overhead and also has a lot of unique pieces. I wouldn't say the prices are on the ridiculous side either.

I really hope to actually visit his shop at some point, and I am sure you can negotiate from those prices if you actually show up and take away the shipping/ebay part of the cut.

A guy with a store and employees to pay has to charge a heck of a lot more than a guy working out of his basement who isn't really valuing his time, but just selling things to help finance his hobby (most of us).
