Just had a couple clowns who pulled up in a truck to look at the free pinball heads---unfortunately, we had a shopped Super Street Fighter video game outside drying near our loading dock...not even close to the heads---with a new paint job---well, they thought we were throwing it out (wet paint and all) and they ripped off the coin door, logic board, and were in the process of removing the monitor when our guy walked outside. They already took parts and light bulbs out of some of the heads for the Jacks Open in the back of their truck they just got somewhere.
The heads are now getting smashed to bits and going into the dumpster...and I am through with the free stuff forever!

Wow that really sucks. Did you get your Street fighter parts back?

Yeesh. That really sucks Todd. So, hopefully you got your parts back, and a sincere apology... Now, were these jokers from KLOV, or were they just some guys driving by and thought you were throwing out a Street Fighter?

The guys were still taking parts out....thats how I knew what was in their truck! so I got the parts back, but now have to connect the wires again...they ripped off all the wires on the coin door taking it off! The other parts were all loose....they said they thought everything outside was "free"...even the game with the still wet paint that looked beautiful!

Never underestimate extreme human stupidity.

Even if they thought the game was being "thrown out" (are you kidding me?) why not just take the whole thing instead of hacking parts out of it?

Doesn't this count as theft and vandalism?

I would have had the cops there in 30 seconds flat.

Ugghhh.

They probably didn't take the whole game cause the paint was still wet :), they were smart enough not to get paint on their hands.

Stupid? No. Thieving? Oh, yea. They knew damn right well that Todd wasn't throwing out that game, they're just generating enough of a smoke screen that Todd is unlikely to make charges stick.

Todd: Next time you have something like this, try selling them for a $1/ea (the heads I mean). That should keep the thieving bastards to a minimum (god knows they wouldn't have shown up at all if they didn't think there was something free), and present no problems on having anyone doing anything untoward arrested (after all, they owe you a $1 at the minimum). Probably too much trouble, but it's worth a thought.

Thats unfortunate Todd, I always look forward to the possibility of you getting rid of some cabinets that need some work. One thing I've learned over the years is that there are a lot of jerks in this world. Most of the time they're the ones who spoil it for us that play by the rules. Common Sense is a lost art.

I really like the $1.00 each idea, might be a good solution.

Yeah age old rule of "don't put anything even in the same zip code as anything free". Hopefully you're not done with the freebies I got some much needed bulbs and a couple molex plugs I could use off those!

What happened sucks and I probably would have called the cops myself.

They were obviously thieving little ffuckss..regardless of whether it was right or wrong to leave it out there.

The guy was just trying to help out those in the hobby with some free shiiittt...and got burned..sucks for us that do care about the hobby..

I don't care about LOL.
