FREE Parts - RAM Controls

Go back to that page and hit refresh. It should read "$25" .... With the KLOV free shipping coupon code (klov100), the total is $25 to any destination in the world.

Dave

errrr, have you looked at the prices on the ram controls site? 720 knob and shaft for $60.

$30 for two joust sticks seems like a bargain in comparison

I noticed that these sticks are totally different from the "Wico" sticks shown earlier. Not just in color and size, but also the little nub at the top of the shaft right where it meets the ball top. Hmmm.....that will most likely require that the ball tops be injection molded, which changes everything. It can still be done, though. :)

Dave

Ken,

You can get the Joust sticks from Arcadeshop already.

They sell the set for $29. I bought some a while back and it looks like they still sell them.

Ok, so are any of those freebies showing up yet???

Dave

Okay, finally had a chance to install my freebies from Dave. I got my reproduction 4.5" ball and 2-shafts (used on missile command, atari football, etc) from Dave next day air.

I was really impressed with the quality and precision of the parts.

Look at the difference between my old trackball and the replacement:

Was equally impressed with the precision of the repro shafts, needless to say the game plays much better than before - such a smooth roll.

Thanks again Dave - awesome products!!!

I don't believe anyone wants those sticks reproduced. Arcadeshop has already done them. The are much smaller and shorter and were used in factory Joust cabs with the 2-way sticks. They are just like the sticks in a Defender and Stargate.

I believe the main sticks that people are looking for are the 4 inch Wico sticks. There are tons of the 3.5 inch sticks around, but Robotron came with the 4 inch sticks. The only 4 inch sticks readily available are light blue and I think pink. Robotron used red sticks. There are also alot of people creating multi-Williams cabs. With that, there has been a desire for a pale yellow 4 inch stick to go along with the light blue 4 inch stick to replicate the Joust look.

Number 1 request would be 4 inch red top Wico stick. The Wico leaf switches themselves are definitely a must too though. There is only cheap Chinese switches available now. They even came in Ataris.:D:D

You can still polish your old ball I used a bench grinder and a cloth wheel and some of the chalk like polish for the wheel. Got all my stuff at Harbor freights cheap did wonders to my Crystal castles trackball ball until I was messing with it after I was done and dropped it and chipped it LOL guess it polished it to well.

Do you, or have plans to make the base and stick for the atari logo sticks? I went through three joysticks before I found one that the base wasnt entirely wore out on. Basically it took three to make one good one. I have the parts to fix these if the base becomes available.

Pacman joystick shafts would be an excellent seller if you make them.

I think that pacman joystick sleeves - or whatever those black cylinders that fit over the stick are called would be great sellers. Those are always worn down and make for sloppy stick action. Ms pac red ones would be good, too.

You are referring to the "Centering Grommet" on the Pac joysticks.

It has been my personal experience that it's a combination of the grommet AND the leaf springs. I've replaced grommets and they still felt half ass sloppy. Replacing the leaf springs made them "tight" feeling again.

I swear midway leafs would be a huge seller. It appears the only components that truly wear out on these joys is the grommets (which are already repro'd) and the leaf springs (not sure if Bob Roberts leafs are right or not).

No, I'm not talking about the centering grommet. The black (red for ms pac) sleeve is a direct wear part onto the top plate of the joystick and dictates just how far the stick is allowed to be moved. The more worn, the more the stick can travel. I suppose that 'sloppy' was a bad choice of words on my part.

The pic of the part out is in pretty good shape, while the pic of the stick on the machine shows the sleeve having been flipped upside down (to allow the non-worn out part to make the contact).

Another point is that these also get UV bleached or otherwise faded over time, thus making what is supposed to be black, a grey.

Yeah, I agree with needing those too. Both of the ones on my cocktail suck. One has cut marks and one is cut in half and taped with black electrical tape to hold the two halves together.

I need a red one of these for my Burgertime. So nobody makes em eh? Anybody use plastic pipe to make one? Can't say I've seen red pipe like that...
