I seen an ad on craigslist for a Super Mario for free that did not work and figure what the heck I see if he still has it and pick it up. He gave me another monitor with screen burn and missing I think the amp board and another power supply with it also. Condition of the game was not to bad, missing one of the wood board that sits on the ground and another one was off. Coin door bad shape with nothing on it except a front of the coin mech. Also the harness was not hacked up but they replaced the light fixture with 2 light sockets with 15 watt bulbs which of course was burned out or the fixtures are bad. I plug her in and it look like it was resetting ( like my old nes if it was dirty) and the monitor is way out of adjustments. So I pulled the board out and made sure it was all there and notice one of the chips had skate kids printed on it and the main chip was Super Mario. Came back inside and looked about info about skate kids and it is a mod alt graphic hack for mario. So I reseated the chips and surprise it actually booted up. Still playing around with the monitor but when it first starts up the top inch or so has lines through it and is smashed together. After playing around it a little today and actually played it for a while the top of screen actually straighten up some. Figure it may need a cap kit. I figure this was not a bad deal for free with it working at least after reseating the chips. Now to just get the regular chips for it.

Free Cabs

Yeah I love free cabinets. I scored a VS. ExciteBike. My brother called me and told me it was sitting on the side of the road with the trash. Of course I got by buddy's truck and headed to the location. I actually talked with the guy throwing it away and he said it worked. He also found the back panel and a few other things in his garage and told me to take it. I got it home and plugged it it and sure enough the thing came on. Now I just gotta figure out what the deal with the sound is.

Major case of "Jail Bars" or a video problem. Cap kit would probably fix it though. Still, its hard to complain about something for free. I remember pumping quarters into SMB.

Always a pain looking for stuff on craigslist. Always seems that the time me or the wife do not check it in a while is when something shows up. A few weeks ago there was an ad for 9 arcades unknown condition for 50 apiece, of course I was a few hours off when it was posted. Right now I am out of a job and money is tight so I am always looking for free or just crazy cheap deals to possibly refurbish and resell just for a few bucks. Only problem with that is I still want the machines myself :) Only way the smb cab will go is if I find a playchoice 10 duel monitor one.

awesome find... while I get lucky on a good priced game every great once in a while, I never get anything like this FREE! Grats!

When I was adjusting colors had the wife in front telling me what it was off on and just gave up after a few mins. Will get a mirror out and do it that way next time I mess with it :)
