This past Saturday I picked up a non-working Mata Hari from a friend. It came into my friends possession some years ago, after he did some work for a guy who couldn't pay him, so he gave my friend the pinball as payment. My friend had planned to get it up and running again with help from his uncle. Fast forward to last Saturday, I brought it to the lab (my house), and got to work.
1. Replaced the leaking battery on the MPU with a memory capacitor (lucky the acid only ruined the ground trace on the bottom of the board).
2. Artfully jumped out the ruined ground traces on the MPU.
3. Replaced the solenoid driver board with a spare one that I had previously re-worked. (the original board had multiple defective components)
4. Replaced the J3 connector and pins on the rectifier board, because most of them were fried.
5. Replaced bridge rectifier 2, and CR1 (all 4 were blown) on the rectifier board.
6. Replaced fuses
Fired it up Monday evening, and voila. I got myself a working Mata Hari for pennies on the dollar. Here's the pics for proof.
PS: I know the play field needs a lot of TLC, but hey, free is free.
