Free Baltimore city dump score.....

As far as the "dump" goes that I happened to find my Gorf at, it's located in a rural area. It just happens to be basically a cul de sac off a side road with about 7 or 8 dumpsters. Here tho you have complete freedom to plunder as there is no on site guard checking your tags, stickers or even what you happen to be picking up or dropping off. Plus, with no gates, it's open 24/7. Just several dumpster and people come and go. I've seen the area with the dumpsters over flowing with heaping mounds of furniture, appliances and just plain trash on the ground and then the very next day the location is as clean as a picnic area. I believe several of the locals volunteer as clean-up and maintenance between actual pickups.

Wow, didn't know ANYONE would dump off ANY game, let alone a gem like that. I'm sure the former owner of that game must not own a computer and therefore must not know about Craigslist. If he did, I'm sure he would've either A) added graffitti, soaked it in water and had a rat chew on every wire and then list it at a steal at only 1800 dollars or, B) Spray paint it black (over the original art) and drill holes in the original panel to add a trackball, joystick, 1000 buttons and a spinner, then throw in a old pentium computer and Mame and list it as a miracle to modern science at only 3,500 dollars!

That is an awesome score and a great game! I had a friend call me a few months ago and he saw a Rampage(not as cools as Lunar Lander) at a dump near my place but I didn't make it in time and it was destroyed or someone else grabbed it.

I make a habit of giving people(specifically contractors or movers) my card and let them know to call me if they ever find a game that someone needs to get rid of. I have added a few this way but having a reliable connection at a county or city dump would get you all kinds of great stuff.

Cant wait to see the pictures of this thing working! Is anyone else going to drive by the local dump this weekend?

nice score! hope you get it working fast. i'd just like to know why it was given to the dump! apparently there are people out there that think these games aren't worth anything.

When we were kids they used to let people scavange through the dump and take anything you wanted. My dad used to pick up bicycles, go carts, mini-bikes, all kinds of cool stuff for us. I clearly remember climbing to the top of the mound of trash that was probably 30ft high. Lawsuits and irresponsible people are why we cant do stuff like that anymore.

Its true.. as a very little kid.. 5 yrs? i can remember roaming thru the garbage dump as my dad would unload the pickup in whatever pile he drove up to.

I remember bikes and all kind of cool stuff.. the ultimate recycling...

I"m with you... I wish we still could!! Like a treasure hunt...

WhAt! That looks from the pictures to be in great condition too! WoW! Some people aren't to smart are they. What a great find!

ya know, as a matter of fact, i remember the dennis landfill on the cape had a building that was a sort of swap meet thing, where the decent/nice videos/tapes/records/electronics/toys/books were kept in bins and shelves and you could go trade other stuff for them.

In my area we have a main dump (never go to because they charge you by weight of your load and it is to far away) and we have transfer stations (their are a lot of these because until recently local trash pickup was not offered) if you live in the county they give you a sticker to put on your windshield and you can dump anything but wood (don't know why only wood is prohibited) for free. This includes paint oil antifreeze, etc. The good stuff people dump is usually set to the side for people to take if they want it, and if not it is tossed at the end of the day. The only 2 things you are not allowed to take are things in the Metal bin, and the old computer stuff, TV's. I guess the scrap value for these is high. Of course with my luck the LL would have been considered a computer and they would have scrapped it. Glad you found it and saved it, Good Job!

I never did post about the condition. As you can see from the pics the sideart and cp are in great shape. Overall I would give the cab an 8 out of 10. It has some of the normal swelling of the wood all the way at the bottom on the sides. T-molding is in fair shape. The main thing is it has a chunk of wood missing a the bottom on the front about 5 inches around...1/8" deep all the way at the bottom. Oh..and the "owl" type coin mechs are frozen...but they shouldn't be too hard to get going. All in all still a GREAT score. Like I said..once I get it going and get most of the restore done..I'll post some pics.......

Good thing you got it before those couple days of constant downpours in that area!
You said it, brother! I could tell that it hadn't been rained on yet....the back door was loose to the side and the backdoor sheet was laying in the bottom. If it had been rained on that backdoor sheet would had been a goner.

holy #@!$ . Thank god the previous owner didn't trash it violently. And a big salute to the yard boss letting it go to someone who gives a #@!$.

Its so much sweeter that it is somewhat of a rare game. If it had been a more common game, it would have still been cool, but the fact that it's a Lunar Lander makes it even better. Would have been a real shame if it had been demolished. Great save and i would be hooking up the guy with a finders fee. Get him a cool gift card for the movies or something.

I saw this game yesterday...This is easily the best score I have ever seen. The side art on one side is PERFECT, one small gouge on the other side. Marquee is perfect, Control panel on the front needs to be painted but the button area and all the Lander labels are perfect. boardset you could eat off of it's so clean. The thruster spring feels like it was never even used or is NOS. Congrats again man, looking forward to playing this one soon...
