Free 50" Rear Projection Monitor (and other Top Skater parts) in NoVA

Hey,

I made a custom cab w/ a Plasma monitor for my Top Skater, so I've got some leftovers that I want gone (or I'll just hack up and toss).

The rear projection monitor looks pretty good though could use a slight adjustment (convergence is slightly off, though not bad like a failed convergence IC... and IIRC red was a little bit strong). There's also no to very little burn-in (I don't remember any)... it originally came from a Sega Super G, which I swapped from a few years ago. It's a Mitsubishi monitor... I don't remember the actual model number... I can get that tomorrow. I don't have any good pics of it before I disassembled the cab, but you can see some pics and videos here: http://www.projectvb.com/arcade/ . If nobody wants it whole, I could probably pull some boards and ship them but not for free.

I've also got the base and marquee holder... the base is stripped of pretty much everything... the marquee holder is complete minus the marquee.

Let me know if you want anything... I'm in Manassas Park, VA.

Just a quick bump... the monitor is a Mitsubishi 50P-GHS41 , in case anyone's interested. I also dug up whatever pics I could find of it running... they're all pretty bad (several video frame grabs, and others just with poor lighting), but like I said, overall it looks pretty good.

Last call before Craigslist... then the dump.

If these are the same as the 50" rptv's that were in the alpine racer cabs, then you can play old NES lightgun games on these tv's with no issues whatsoever... I miss my duck hunt.

dude plz dont dump it. a couple years ago, i woulve paid several hundred for one for my trilogy.

they use those crt projections in all those sega deluxe cabs, someone is looking for this, or will be soon.

If you were anywhere near me, i would grab it just to have it.

i know for sure mecha187 needs one, but hes here in il with me, mabye he would pay to have it shipped???

The Sega games were actually a medium resolution monitor, not a TV (like I believe Namco used). But yes, RPTVs can play lightgun games... but I play lightgun games on my 32" CRT.

Trust me... I'd hate to dump it, and will probably strip the parts before I do... but it's big and I really don't want it taking up tons of space in my garage forever. Hopefully someone will pick it up and it won't need to get trashed.

I don't know if it helps any, but I'll be going to Norwalk Ohio at the end of the month... I don't know for sure, but I could possibly bring it for a little bit of gas money (I was planning on taking the car, but could possibly take the van, depending on weather - A/C is broken).

You're about 7 hrs from here... though if you were looking for a reason to visit the DC area, maybe this is a good one (eh... maybe not). ;)

Ugh... so I posted it on Craigslist... got quite a few unintelligible emails asking for it, but apparently none of them read the description about it being an _ARCADE MONITOR_ not a TV. If I didn't care that someone who actually will use it takes it, I'd just let one of them come pick it up and figure out for themselves how useless it is to them.

I guess that's what I get for posting it in "Free Stuff".

This is still available if anyone's interested... I hate to hack it up, but it's gotta go.

Lets see the customization!!
Oops, didn't notice this had a second page... I posted pics of the new cab/monitor a few weeks ago over here: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=197049 .

The monitor is still available though... I don't have the heart to toss it, don't have the motivation to hack it up, and don't have the need for the space in the garage yet... but that may be coming soon. There is someone that may be interested in it, but he hasn't given me a yes or no yet... so if you want it, speak up.

Someone picked this up this weekend... so it was saved from the dump. :)

you were going to norwalk?

Wish I would have been checking these boards when you first posted. I live in Norwalk. :)
I'm glad it found a home.
