Inside the coin door on my Freddy Pinball there are two white buttons/swhitches. One of them had one of the mounting screws removed and the switch was swiveled back and out of the way, where the coin door would not make contact with it. I wondered why, and what this switch was for so I pushed the button. Well the game immediately shut off and won't come back on now. What have I done and how do I fix it. I checked the two fuses in the power box that the wires go to and they are good. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, that did it. Obviously I'm new to pinball games, but it really felt like a spring loaded switch that came back out when I pushed it. Apparently it didn't. I guess there is a problem and that is why somebody had swiveled it back out of the way, or the game would always be shut off when the door is closed and the switch is pressed in. Also, don't know how this would be related, but now that it is powering back on, there is a little click about once every 5 seconds or so inside the cabinet, it didn't do this before I pushed that button. If you know what that could be let me know on that too.. Thanks again.

Sounds like an open door cutoff switch. When mounted correctly, the button is pushed in when the door is closed, closing the contacts and letting power flow to the machine. When the door is opened, the spring loaded button opens the contacts, cutting power to the machine. Pulling out the button permanently closes the contacts so that you can power up the machine with the door open without having to hold the button in.

Some people don't realize that you can bypass the button by pulling it out and will attempt to bypass it by taping it up to try to keep it permanently in. When the tape inevitably breaks down, the power goes off to the machine and they can't figure out why. With video games, a missing back door leads to the same problem. Sometimes this is the culprit on a machine that is being sold "nonworking".

I was in the hobby for MONTHS before I knew that. I know it seems so basic now. But my first machine I bought had that switch taped down with electrical tape, so I thought then that the switch much have to be down to work..
