Hey guys - I picked up an Arkanoid on Friday, and it has a nice little wave to the monitor, as well as a little foldover on the side of the screen (the monitor's mounted vertically). I figured a cap kit would most likely be a quick and easy fix. When I pulled the monitor chassis, it completely looked unfamiliar, but the chassis is marked as Electrohome 38-G07-905-XX, October 1980. The problem is that this chassis looks nothing like a G07. Also, about half of the board has been de-populated at some point, and there's a daughter board mounted over the de-populated section of the board. This daughter board is where the video input is as well. As mentioned, it's not a regular G07 chassis, as the board is physically longer than a G07. Also, the cap numbers on the board don't match the cap numbers on the G07 cap kit. It has some characteristics that look somewhat like a G07, though.

I am figuring this may be some sort of early variant of the G07 chassis. Has anyone run across something like this before?

Hey Dokert - CAO sounds reasonable to me, because the model I am familiar with is the CBO. I'm just wondering what the deal is with the de-populated board and the daughter board.

I found pic of a CAO online, and yep, it's what I have. Daughter board and all. As far as a cap kit goes, can you generally make a CBO cap kit work? One difference I have found is that there is that cap C511 is axial instead of radial. But others should probably work fine, you think?

Or would I be better off finding a G07-CAO cap kit?

Thanks!

you need the CAO cap kit

Looks like from what Ken posted, the CBO kit should work fine and have a couple of extra caps

Hey, thanks for the notes Ken - I used a CBO cap kit, with the modifications in the link you provided, and the monitor's looking good! No more wave, and the curl at the edge of the screen was solved by tweaking the V Hold.

Thanks again!
