Framed backlit (and slightly smaller than normal) marquee that I made for a friend

I know things like this have been done many many times in the past, by people far more creative than myself...but I've been waiting for an excuse to take a stab at something like this in case I ever wanted to try and decorate the walls with marquees or what-have-you.

A friend's birthday was coming up and I saw an opportunity since she loves Bubble Bobble so much (and she's quite good, no less). So I decided to try and put together a backlit BB marquee for her.

Looking to make something reasonably priced since I wasn't sure how it would turn out, I opted for a small 6"x14" shadowbox. The next size up I could find, which would have been nicer and closer to actual size of most marquees, cost 3x as much. I then rounded up a few things on Amazon - LED light strips, a 12V power supply, and a remote control.

Below is the end result. It came out better than I expected, really and looks quite nice on the wall or on a shelf. I might have to pick out a few marquees and make some for myself one day :) You'll notice the aspect ratio is a bit off - it's taller than it "should" be so there may be some marquees that won't lend well to this particular frame.

I may have to ask if you can make a Mario Bros..... ;)

Awesomeness!
For sure, man :)

How much do you have in this?
I wasn't really paying a lot of attention at the time and sort of played it by ear in terms of what all I needed to get the job done, but I'd estimate roughly somewhere between $75 and $100 all in for that one. The single biggest expense is the artwork of course. I could probably do multiples of these for less if I have several marquees printed and shipped at once along with trying to find suitable parts (PSUs, remotes, etc) in bulk. Even better if I could find someone local to print the art.
