I found some Coleco Adam cassette tapes at a local sale. Stuff like Basic Programming, Recipe Filer, Home Filer, and about 10 other tapes of that type. All in their original cases/binders. I also found a Buck Rogers game cassette, along with a bunch of books on how to use the Coleco Adam. I have a few blank tapes too that are official Adam tapes. Also got about 5 tapes with games on them, but they aren't official Adam tapes, looks like someone just used blank tapes and got the games on there.

So my question is, did I stumble on a gold mine?? (Probably not)....but is there any interest in this sort of thing from anyone? Obviously I have no way to test, so who knows if the tapes even still work after 30 years.

Gold mine? No... buck rogers came with the adam. As for the utility tapes, ebay bound . But eh good luck

Thanks! I didn't realize Buck Rogers came with the Adam. I'll probably hang on to them for now if they don't carry too much value. Neat little piece of gaming history to sit on my shelf next to my old Colecovision console.

somewhere in my mess I have an adam new in the box. Its still in its shipping box! Bought it at the flea market about 30+ years ago. sadly, I have never plugged it in. I think the box has a sticker on it that says it has buck rodgers with it. I always assumed it was the cartridge.

I think it kind of ranks up there with the mattel aquarius and intellvision computer stuff. its rare, if its new in the box its worth something, but probably not a lot of demand for it.

FWIW The printer has the power supply for the Adam so hope you have that, and it works.

Very true, rarity doesn't equal value. I personally haven't seen any Adam stuff at any of my local retro gaming stores, and I'm in there fairly often. So in that sense it's kind of cool. But like you mentioned, it wasn't a real popular system back then and really doesn't have a fan following today, so the demand for this stuff is probably pretty low.

Yeah it's probably not that much of a gold mine since I'm sure many of those tapes probably don't work. I had an Adam and used it to write most of my papers in high school and college. The tape drives were very temperamental and would often erase the tapes if you left them in when you powered off or on. As said before the PS was in the printer so if that went you were SOL. The games on it were excellent, especially the tape version of Donkey Kong. Unfortunately my parents decided to throw my ADAM and all the tapes out when they moved and let me know when I came by to pick it up, but then again it would probably be something else my wife would be telling me to get rid of now. :D
