Well, this maybe not too exiting for you US guys, but getting an original Ms. Pac Man over here in Europe is close to impossible.

So I was very lucky to get one from a lot that got imported recently from the US:

OK, I had to sell my Missile Command cabaret, Meteor (and gave Dominos as a bonus), but I was already planning on "getting rid" of the last two. The MC was a bit tougher decision, but it was a matter of what machine do you _REALLY_ want, and the question was very quickly answered.

Those three machines will be moving to a very good new home, the arcade museum in Denmark http://www.playright.info/museum.php

Anyway, it gave me the space and the funds to buy the Ms. so I'm happy with it !!

I could still choose between 3 Ms.Pac (and I think 2 or 3 Pac) cabs, and the seller told me that 2 were completely dead (probably something easy like a fuse or a internal switch ;)) and that one showed "stripes" on the screen (which I figured would be a simply sync pot adjustment. When he powered up that machine, it simply worked ! I was probably as amazed as the seller, and I was very glad we struck a deal on the price _before_ I went over to pick it up :D
Although it has the awful speed-hack with strange mazes, that's easy enough to reverse, a working PCB is a great bonus.

Anyway here are some pics:

Congrats!

If you don't mind my asking, what does something like that cost over there? I would imagine importing a machine drastically raises the price.

I always love hearing grail found stories. And I know some people will probably say you gave up too much for it,but when it comes to grails, you grab the opportunity when it is presented to you, even if it might be a little out of your comfort zone.So congrats to you!

This game was my first "grail" before the true sickness set in. When I got my Asteroids from a neighbor, Ms. Pac was the first one on my hunt list. I played it so many times as a kid the cash could probably buy a nice Lamborghini today. I still don't know what it is that draws me to the game, I think it's the intermissions that you see and the sounds (even the credit up sound is an all-time fave of mine). I had to have one!

Your cab appears to be in great shape. Make sure you get those coin lights working if they don't already!

Congrats, L42.. she's a keeper. :D

The sounds are so key in the games that had analog circuitry. There's something about the resonance and fluctuations you get from analog circuitry. They sound 10 times better than mame. You can't reproduce it digitally. It's the main thing that draws me to the real-deal classic dedicated games. I would love to get a midi controller hooked up to a bunch of classic analog game boards and make some beats and stuff.
