Here is a Mario Bros. Wide Body I purchased recently from rural Wisconsin - serial number #682. It was in good shape overall, and I just did a cosmetic restoration of the usual parts. The side art was missing, but the orange laminate was in great condition. After a good cleaning with Goo Gone and some Meguiars cleaner wax, the sides came out looking like new. New art was then added from Arcadeshop.

I had the marquee brackets and upper and lower coin doors powder coated, and cleaned up the marquee and bezel with Novus paste cleaner. The CPO is new from Anthony at Quarterarcade and the buttons and T-molding are from Mike.

I am very pleased with how it turned out. It looks AMAZING next to my other games. Here are a few shots of it before and after.

Nice! I love seeing another WB brought to life or cleaned up. Contact Jow if you haven't already as he's the keeper of the Official Wide Body Mario Bros. Registry. :)

That looks nice. Very clean.

Quick question for you. For the Popeye next to it, how does the front molding go on under the control panel? Is the width smaller than the T-molding? I plan on restoring one but don't know how it should be attached.

Thanks,

Thanks for the compliments! The t-molding on the Popeye control panel is the same size as the rest of the cabinet. Just disconnect the control panel, and pound it in with a soft mallet. The control panel has the same grooves as the sides of the game. Easy to install...

very nice!

how do you type the sound of applause?????

well imagine that here.. askdfhksdfjaskdfjdksafjkalsdfjksdkjff

The sides of the cab are the original orange laminate and were in great shape. I did not need to use vinyl or re-paint it.

It's paint. Trust me. I had one with some mildew on the sides that made the paint flake off. I used one of the larger flakes to color match my cab. My guess is that it is some sort of a baked enamel finish that makes it look and feel like laminate.

The game came from a roller rink and went to a guy's basment in the boonies of Wisconsin, and trust me when I say that this guy did no painting or anything to the sides of the game. Chris 25810 was at the guy's house and picked up a Death Race game, and he's the one who told me about this one. He could vouch that this guy did NOTHING to the games. Looked like it still had dust on it from '83. He bought out a buddy's rink and had about 15 of the games in his basement.

The original glue residue and the shadow of the original art was visible and can be seen in the "before" pictures. I wouldn't trust myself to paint or try to apply a vinyl to it. Plus, it didn't need it, nor have any of my games. These games are fairly easy to find in good condition for not that much money. At the back edge where the game meets the wall, you can see where laminate has slightly separated from the plywood.
