Stuck my Galaga control panel in a nice wood fire, after the fire bedded down a bit.

Burned the the old COP and glue right off.

Might want to avoid getting it too too hot, it's just sheet metal.

What's a good method for getting the sideart glue off my galaga?

I tried goof off, didn't do a thing. What's a good solvent for that? Acetone?

Thanks.

A good way I found to remove CPO and sideart glue is Carb. Cleaner. Spray it on and scrap it off. Only on metal though cause it will discolor plastic.

I use CitriStrip to remove adhesives. It works great.

This is how I do it now:

The best part is that there IS no glue residue...

Boy that looks like a lot of work.

I used citri-strip adhesive remover to get the adhesive off the sides of the cabinet, it worked great, turned the adhesive into blobs of rubber like eraser that fell right off, didn't harm the cabinet at all,

Definitely going to use the citri-strip on my next CPO.

Paint Thinner will remove glue awesome. NAPA or Advanced Auto should gave a gallon you can buy. Or many hardware stores.

The Texas sun in July works wonders. It just about peeled a Superman sticker off the side of a cabinet all by itself. It has even worked great on latex paint. Left a Defender that was painted green out in the sun for an hour and was able to peel the paint off one side in about 10 minutes. The Defender art was pretty decent under that ugly green paint (it had been converted to a Green Beret).

im lucky enough to have my parts wash/solvent tank setup now, the last few ive done i dunk the whole cp in there( less controls obiously) and let em sit a few days. WIth the solvent i have, in a few days the cpo peels right off and glue comes too, its kinda like boogers but comes off pretty easily.

THe only downside is cleaning off the solvent residue in orger to paint or apply the new decal, if you dont get it all off the paint wont stick very well and neither will the cpo

1) We don't have Citristrip in Europe (I'd like to start importing it !!!)
2) It's a cooking place. Cooking places in Europe have hoods. Put it on full power.
3) There is no harm done to the cooking-place or whatever.
4) It was quick. The video shows the parts that went pretty badly, I had removed large areas in one go before the video was shot.

It's just an idea. It's a lot quicker (and less harmful) than using aggressive chemic stuff.

Of course it can be done with any torch-heater...
