A few more pictures including after the first cleaning.

Looking good but that thing is going to need a full tear down to really be clean. I can see the wax buildup on the posts.

When I got my Taxi the wire form that returns from Dracula would cause the ball to bounce into the outlane about 50% of the time. Man was that annoying.

Here are some of my before pics. This is going to take a lot of Novus...

Some plastics are broken too, but it's just a couple of them. Not sure if I want to spring for the full plastic set or not...

If pinball machines sit with glass covering them, how to they get that dirty? Crazy.

Are all of your games mint condition, or in the process of becoming so? If you can't answer a resounding yes, then don't waste your money. Clean the game up nice, and then enjoy the hell out of it.

I restore everything back to mint or as close as possible, yes.

The reason the Taxi looks so bad is because the previous owner did some drywall work with the machine in the room. That dust gets EVERYWHERE. Over time the turned dark with the rubber dust and such and now it looks like that.

Actually, I've already started cleaning it up and it's cleaning up REAL nice. It's going to look better than most when I'm done, I feel. I'll put up some in progress pics this weekend.

Dust and crap find their way into the game over time. There is also black dust being generated under the playfield during play. The ball spreads the dirt all over the place and the game gets dirty.

It just happens.

Yeah, my first cleaning was a quick wipedown of the dust and such. Mostly so I could play a few games and get the feel of how she played. I plan on a full tear down this weekend, if all the ordered materials come in. New rubbers all the way around and 2 shiny new pinballs.

Looks nice

Not only does it look nice, but the $600 you spent for it. Damn good deal. Does Novus #2 the only on to really use for cleaning the playfield and plastics? Or do you need all the novus # products? I use Caranuba wax by Meguires it for cars/trucks with good results.

Looks good. Did you clean the blue plastic posts?

I replaced them...except for one or two. I will replace the rest when my Pinball Life order comes in. I thought I had enough of the yellow posts on hand but I thought wrong.

I also have new target decals, but I haven't installed them yet.

Are you talking about these?

Oh, whoops, I was thinking post sleeves.

Yeah, I cleaned the blue star posts. I had them soaking in Simple Green for a few hours and then rinsed them off in hot water before giving them an alcohol bath. They're pretty sparkly right now. Typically I replace them, but they cleaned up quite well.

I would say it looks like you did a pretty nice shop job on this one. If you aren't going to address the wear issue on the PF and inserts, I wouldn't bother getting new plastics (just me personally). Looks like it is going to be a nice player machine once you get the few odds and ends needed...

That's what I figured :p

It looks like there's still some wax on the bottoms but I could be wrong. I usually use a toothbrush and windex.

Looks great!

Nah, there's no wax. It might look like it because the camera flash lights up the thin parts near the bottom of the post and the color of the playfield is showing through. Showing wax after a shop job is like walking out of the bathroom with toilet paper stuck to your shoe.
