...and man is this a fun pin!! I would love to have one in my collection. How many of you own this pin? I was hooked from the first multiball I got. I noticed I had a few modes going at once and racked up a little over 12 mil with multiball. Not bad for the first time ever seeing or playing it.

I have a question though, I only remember seeing a multiball come across the display once, but at several points during the game I noticed that a ball would kick into the shooting lane, sometimes two at once. while a single ball was in play. Is this from having multiple modes active? Has anyone else had this happen when playing a Ripley's?

I bet since this is so new there is no chance of finding one in project shape eh?

If two balls kicked into the shooter lane at once, it mostly likely has a ball trough switch or opto error....

It's 2003 so it's not **that** new, I've never actually got to try this one....yet

I was lucky enough to find a BDK and RBION side by side at a pizza joint. Wow what a treat that was!
I actually prefer BDK over RBION where as my wife was just the opposite.

I've never played a dark knight, only seen pics. The newest machines I've played were Iron Man (didn't get enough time to dig into it, But I felt the playfield was lacking.) and I got to play the new rolling stones pin at autorama. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be from reading the thread about it in here. I don't ever see myself owning one though.

I need to find a nice cache of newer "project: pins so I can indulge my pinball obsession like many of you with tricked out basments and garages!

uggghhhh. sometimes the abbreviations just don't work.

hell, you can type ripley's about as fast as RBION.

LOL, yeah.... abbreviations are a big part of RGP, but sometimes they're a bit silly. Some people call it TDK ...I just think of the old tape brand from the 80's. ...but there's already a DE Batman, and people often mix of Dark Knight & Black Knight....so - I dunno, whatever. :)

Iron Man is all speed speed nudge speed...the playfield/software/sound package IN CONTEXT is fantastic. It's not a mechanical marvel, but it's a real satisfying shooters game that rewards the brave player for attempting to stack stuff instead of just going for the easy Multiball.

Batman, mechanically has more stuff going on than Iron Man, and is much deeper....but honestly, it's not as fun. It feels more methodical. I bought both games at the same time - sold Batman already, still jamming on Iron Man almost every day.

I thought Batman was HORRIBLE, it was soooo cheap looking with the tiny wireforms that didn't even keep the ball going the right direction (it habitually dropped the ball into the outlane, which SUCKS). I played it a few times and never played it again even though it sat at that location for probably a year.

I'm one of the few who like RBION pretty well. It looks neat (some Stern art I like and some looks like ass, I think the Ripley's artwork is nice), has the cool magnet tricks (not new, but still neat), cool looking wireforms. I don't remember about the audio or maybe I couldn't hear it. The "vari-target" thing was crap, it didn't seem to work like a vari-target should. I find the theme okay, it reminds me of beach and vacation trips since that's the only place I ever see Ripley's. I'd consider getting one if it came along.

i played a ripleys before at a local bar (one of the few who still have games) and it was sorta cool.......it was either that or terminator with the backglass animation that shoots the balls. ripleys was alrite but theres a whole load of games id rather have before a ripleys

i've only played ripley's virtually, but i thought it was pretty cool. seemed to be a lot going on in the playfield.

the rule set seems fairly deep....not uber-deep by any means, but it seems to give you multiple shots at any point in gameplay to shoot for.

i dig the theme and i like the sound/light package......i'd definitely drop a few quarters if i saw this one out in the wild.

I like my Ripley's!
Fun shots, decent sound, decent ruleset.
They did skimp on the overall construction though, the temple is just a piece of sheetmetal with a sticker on it and wide open on the side. Add to that a head with a light bulb in it and you get the feeling they phoned it in on that portion.

I DO like the art though, very bright and the cabinet matches the PF artwork well along with the lighting.

I've always kinda hated the abbreviations. I personally don't find it too taxing to press a couple of extra keys on a keyboard to type a machine's name.

Yet, I occasionally use abbreviations because I feel like I'm expected to or something. Funny, that.

there is on on location locally.it is in good shape over all. it has the rub marks at the flippers wich i see alot on route games. its for sale. i think the route guy said 2,500 for it shopped. i have dropped a few quarters in it. anyway, its at woodstocks pizza on 2nd st in chico ca. if anyone local wants to check it out.they also have star wars episode 1.

Granted this post was from a year ago, noticed that the question still wasn't answered. The reason why there was more than one ball on the table during non- multiball is because on ripley's there are multiple modes that are two ball modes. I read somewhere that they designed it this way so that beginners would be drawn in by all the ball action, while pro players would have the challenge of completing a mode with more than one ball whizzing around. As if that alone weren't hard enough, you have to play and complete 7 modes before you can get to the Atlantis wizard mode. If you don't complete all 7, they'll just keep cycling around. Really digging this game a lot lately.

I am never selling my ripleys. Top 3 stern game of all time and people are starting to realize it. I think the days of 1,400 ripleys are long gone unless you are really lucky.
