I've got a 1977 Rockola 470, and it's been the greatest jukebox ever. I've had it about 8-9 years and it still works as good as the day I brought it home. Yours is a few years older, but still a Rockola in the 400 series, so I would expect the same once you got it working.

That's an ok jukebox. It looks like a nice piece of furniture and lights up the speaker grill cloth area with nice soft lighting.

Open the cabinet and carefully inspect for signs of rodent damage first.

Check for tripped circuit breakers and blown fuses. Some fuses are inside their respective units like the power supply unit and amplifier.

Be sure you have all the manuals and schematics with the machine.

Any more questions, it would be best to hop over to the jukebox forum at www.phonoland.com

I had a Rockola 454 and it was an awesome jukebox. The sound on those boxes are incredible for vinyl. I originally bought it 12 years ago, but sold it about 4 years ago. I didn't have any problems with it, and the new owner hasn't had any problems, either. They do take some routine cleaning of the contacts to make sure they stay working solid.

thanks for the info guys. i dont get into jukeboxes much. my dad buys them but only if they are old, and "you can see the record playing", so he is telling me not to go after this 456. i was trying to go get it tonight but the guy is putting a roof on his neighbors house everynight this week before winter and before it gets dark........so as for now im patiently waiting to get it

ok i finally went to pick this jukebox up. this thing was heavy as all hell. we had to carry it up steps and on about the 2nd or 3rd step i was having second thoughts!!!! lol.
i brought it home and plugged it in and im not sure whats wrong with it. when you press the buttons to select your song, the big wheel on the inside will spin/more and thats it. it wont do anything else. i havent messed with it much but i dont have much jukebox repair experience at all.
the seller told me that him and his family used it for years in their basement, then 1 day it "just stopped right in the middle of a record"

That would happen to my old 454 if I left it sit too long. I'd choose a song and then it would just spin and spin and spin...

What worked for me was to clean the contacts and the paths on the selection wheel. It's the area where the "arms" with "fingers" spin around, in the lower cabinet. Clean the fingers with a flex stone and wipe down the metal traces with some isopropyl alcohol.
