Found a HUO (Home Use Only) Ms. Pacman, but is it?

Get that thing out of the sunlight to save the pink colors!!

Correct me if im wrong but couldnt the counter be misleading in the fact that maybe when they had it on people just opened it and flicked the counter a shit ton of times with some games not even being played? If that happened all the time it wouldnt be that far fetched.
Im no expert so i might be missing a reason why this wouldnt work.

The lady I bought this from claimed that her husband (no longer living) purchased this game new around 1982. The paint is bright, and the control panel is flawless, but the cabinet does have issues. Also, the manual is still in plastic on the back door, and the pack of leg levelers along with other cabinet hardware are still sitting at the bottom of the cabinet, unopened.

If the counter tripped repeatedly due to an error it would explain the play count.

Some people seem to think HUO means it was in the home when THEY owned the game but that it doesn't matter where it might have been prior to that (which is erroneous).

But they're saying bought in 1982? Still could be....

I also have a purported HUO Ms. Pac-Man...

I have really nice Ms. Pac-Man as well. It supposedly belonged to Smokie Robinson. I obviously don't have proof, but the lady I bought it from worked with Smokie and had tons of signed memorabilia and pictures taken with him.

The coin counter had 11 ticks on it when I got it. It was always in 'free-play' mode, and of course that is cause of the burn-in that is on the monitor. The cabinet has some issues from being moved around, as the lady told me that it was a party piece and was moved around and finally put in storage before she received it as a gift from Smokie.

It didn't have the manual or the keys with it when I got it. The only thing i've done to it is re-cap the monitor.

What do you all think?

Coin door is the newer later style and the red shaft on the joystick also was used in later near the end production for Mrs Pac. So it's possible it came out when the sales were starting to slow down on Mrs Pac and she just didn't get a ton of play and then wound up in a home. Have to remember back in the 80's these games came out and they were hot money makers until the next new game came out and you couldn't give them away.

Nice pic! It's not everyday that you see two Ms.Pacs, side by side like that, in such nice condition. ;)

Almost no hand wear on the sides. Very interesting...

Ehh, hand wear doesn't necessarily mean much. I'm having a hard time coming up with examples of single-control games where my dead hand is grabbing one side or the other of the cabinet while playing it (I typically rest the unused hand on the control panel) - and if a game was in a tight row for most of its life, that would tend to discourage people from resting their hand on a side. If the wear is there, cool - but it's not something that I see as indicative of a great deal other than that was how it was played in the locations it happened to be in.

without a sales slip or other paperwork to confirm, it's only a nice story which you can choose to believe or not.

This.

otherwise, it's a pretty darn nice looking cabinet.

Definitely one of the nicest of its kind that I've seen in a while, that's for sure.
