Good news: I scored a Duramold Blaster!
Bad news : I scored a Duramold Blaster:-(

So I snatched this thing up but it has the wrong stick and I havent had a chance to really get into the boards (wont boot past "rug pattern)...

Option A: Buy the stick, send the boards out, have a kinda cool game in a sweet cab preserving a kinda rare machine

Option B: Jrok that bitch and have a bunch of sweet games in a sweet cab!
(Even the GF was like WHOA thats a COOL CAB LOL)

Needless to say if option B happens I will build my own Control panel preserving the original
Option B also would allow me to sell my Robotron and make room for another cab (space isnt really an issue (YET) but cash never hurt anyone)

As long as you don't make any changes that can't be undone and don't lose any parts, I don't see a problem with putting a JROK board. However, there are probably collectors who would gladly trade you another cabinet that would be good for that..but I get that you like the duramold, as it looks really good.

option c . put the jrok in the robotron and get another cp and cpo for robotron to not destroy the original and sell the nonworking duramold blaster for probably twice what the working robotron will bring in. That way you save space and make money.

Option C: Buy the stick, have the boards repaired, save some more money and get the materials for the jrok conversion.

Make the game the way you want to enjoy it while you own it. Just make it so you can reverse it back if/when you want to sell it.

Can't you just sell it to someone for way more than it is possibly worth and buy something else to multi-Williams that isn't so rare/sought after?

Well, then there's option D. Get the game on Mythbusters so they can determine if a monitor really will pop out of it due to plastic shrinkage. (read that somewhere)

Turn it into a trash can for the game room...already looks like one. ;)

I wish I could find that pic someone shopped of a Bubbles in a rubbermaid garbage can a long time ago. Quite fitting...lol

For real though, put a multi in it. If you're gonna have the ugly trash can, make it worthwhile. Just don't wreck the existing CP etc, save that for someone else should you sell it.

From a financial perspective putting the jrok setup in there is probably a poor idea.

Chances are you could trade it outright for a working game setup the way you want and not have to spend another dime.

Scramble1981 (I think) has one of those and has brought it to the Seattle show. Interesting cabinet. I'd love to see one next to the Bubble duramold.

JROK sells adaptors to original wiring harness so you don't have to rewire anything. The stick might be tough to find. With the board intact don't F**( it up as that is a rare bird. Most Duramolds were converted. The board should be a reasonably easy fix.

Thanks for the heads up! Connectors and adapters are right up my alley, as I do want to keep it as original as possible, hence the need for me to make my own CP.

With the help of a few members here I have already made some progress on the boards and found out some great info about this cabinet (thanks Ken and Jay)

For sure would like to get this going as a Blaster first, but cant help envisioning what a Robotron themed MW Duramold would look like...

I put an arcadeshop board in my bubbles duramold. Love it. I can't see myself ever getting rid of it if I can help it. Created my own multi-Williams art/control panel and (to me at least) it looks very natural and "factory".

I personally prefer having a multi machine and if you're having problems with an original set up would totally support you throwing a jrok in it. Cosmetically it's easy to revert to original if you wanted (any wiring changes may be another story). But if you can get it running with minimal investment of time and money then you may want to keep it original.

Good luck! I loves me some duramold so keep us updated with pics!

If you plan is to F-it up, sell it to someone who will fix it.. Jehuie would sell it!

They made repo plastic housings for blaster. I would think you could modify/weld something to add that to the sinistar stick.
