Finally got around to hooking this up and it sounds VERY nice, the engine (especially the boat) and explosions rumble the entire cabinet pretty well, so much so that I had to put in some padding behind the seat glass pieces.

I'm using 4 x T1693s and a T600 amp

The only con being that since there is not much space inside the cabinet, even without the metal hunk in the bottom, I've currently got the amp installed in a PC tower case sitting next to the game which sorta makes sense because I'm using a PC power supply to power it.

Has anybody upgraded their sound?

For anybody thinking about it, the magnets on these speakers were so large that I had to mod the marquee light, mine was already sorta modded because I previously installed a dual voltage lamp power brick, and so I just laid it on the floor of the marquee / speaker area and then flattened out the metal piece holding the lamp enough to allow space for the magnets, which in turn moves the lamp back a bit, but not enough to really notice.

One point of interest that is sort of common knowledge is that the slight hum actually originates with the sound board and more so with the cheap squeak "Peter Gunn" board, so eliminating the amp boards doesn't really clean up the sound any unless you had loud buzzing coming from them. There is also a slight bit of static that comes from the sound board, because once the game ends and there is no credits left, it is a bit more "silent". I'm sure many have noticed various other dirty sounds that are produced for instance after the explosion sound finishes and after the smoke screen there is a clicking like the sound effect is switching off. Also, the cheap squeak usually makes the same sort of clicking noise before it starts playing almost like a record player needle has started playing making it seem like it's even more classic than it already is. After all the bad guys seem to resemble very classic cars. The combined hum / static remind me of a old time movie room with a loud projector playing...

I have a couple of small jensens that I plan on installing in some of my Dynamo HS-5s. Its a small amp and only like 20x2 watts max, but it should really add some bass with a pair of the new shielded 6x9s that Bob Roberts sells. Ought to sound better than the Q-Sound system that Capcoms cabs had in them.

I was wondering how easy it was to swap the amp in those, I was thinking of making a custom Spy Hunter mini and using a different one than the stock.

Instead of plugging in the amps, you just pull the signal off of the one side connector and into your amp, I used wires soldered to nails to prevent hacking the cables, then you put the sound out from your new amp into the opposite side connector which goes straight to the speakers.
