Forced to Close Galaxy Blue

...and when we left our room and bothered our parents, they told us to go play outside.

Jesus Christ, my son's 19 months old and my Daughter's 6. Go play outside he says. I don't think my mom cared if she ever saw me again after she sent me outside. It was hands off back then for sure. I actually like my kids and want them to be safe.

Well by god you better cage them up and make them eat carrots because outside is soooooooo dangerous!

Not sure why so many fuckers hate this game, my kids love it and that's all that matters to me. Maybe people just think it's cool to say it sucks? Maybe its an automatic response like 'cap kit'? *sigh*

I was serious. I like the game and have the PCB too...which takes up a garage wall by itself it is so big. If I was going to get the game, I would want the dedicated cabinet though, which is why I threw it out there.

Phet,
You have an awesome game room and it will be sad to see it go. However, like you said, you still have the outer limits (which is even cooler than Galaxy Blue) and you get to design a new space.

At least you aren't doing a "I'm out" post.

Ah hellz no. Now I will just have 2 dedicated arcade rooms that are separated by a lounge/rec room. Poor me. *whimpers*

Why don't you paint the red room 'blue' and keep the Galaxy Blue name for the new room?

Well to be fair, my kids are 30 months, and 13 months, and they both love playing outside. Of course, its in our backyard, that is fenced off, and away from traffic or view of any people out front, but its outside nonetheless. Playing outside doesn't always mean "run away", right?

I still love you, and your new smaller gameroom(s).

Yeah we have streets on three sides (one's a major road), no fence and a few neighbors with big dogs across the street. One is a German Shepard who is always tied up and tries to attack everyone that walks past, and the other is some huge-assed Mastiff that occasionally gets off the leash and looks like a fucking horse with fangs as he gallops down the street. I take them outside all the time, but I would never 'send' them outside by themselves like my Mom did. They deserve an open place to play indoors that isn't filled with arcade games. That's just life. I'd rather have kids to take care of me when I am older than arcade games. Though my games would be less likely to put me in a home when I start drooling and shitting my own pants.

Definitely more play time inside up here in the north during the winter. I am sure it will be temporary and as the kids get bigger I am sure you will be able to keep some games in there or at least still enjoy the space a bit yourself. You definitely can't trade the joy of having kids for the games, so at the end of the day it is not a big deal (as you know), and you will still enjoy your games in the new space. Once they get a bit bigger, you will probably end up having all three rooms as gamerooms, so you just have to wait it out.

Definitely exciting to work on a new space. I always like seeing the artwork you do, so looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

sounds like your boy is old enough for some geotrax trains. (if he doesn't already have some) they are boatloads of fun and having a good amount of space is always better.

I could send you a 50 gallon tote filled with them, but my son wouldn't let me.

Hahahaha, that would be great. I actually do have a pretty decent train set that I'll be busting out for Christmas. He's gonna love playing King Kong with that thing. I am really psyched just to get this move over with and see what having all my games in a more 'dedicated' space will be like. Having them in the main room was cool, but they had to be scattered in such weird groupings to fit around all the obstacles/doorways/bars/fireplaces, etc that were part of the house. I love the cohesive/cozy feel of the Outer Limits, so the Flaming Hellcade should be just as sweet.

skeeball would be great in the playroom, but you need to have one lane for each kid.

I can't remember wtf they are called, but toysrus has these kits to build indoor forts. they are basically foam covered rods that you connect together. all the pieces lock together magnetically. if you have enough pieces, and couch cushions you can build some really cool forts.

get everything breakable out of the room and set up a soccer goal or basketball net, etc and prepare to have more fun with the kids in that room than you ever did with the games.

Show a pic of the "new" space with measurements. I'm sure someone will be willing to mock up a new design.

It's a weird shape, like a rectangle with the lower left corner cut off. 18' x 13' would be the size of the rectangle, but then cut the lower left corner off at a 45 degree angle. The left side of the 'shape' is 6 feet long, then the 45 angle, then the bottom from left to right would be 3 feet of wall, 6 feet of double doors then 3.5 feet of wall.

Here's what it looks like now:

Primal Rage is like catnip to kids under 10. They love everything dinosaurs.

MY ex roommates 6 year old used to force me to play SNES Killer Instinct. Just for the Dinosaur character. I went out and got Primal Rage, and his head exploded.

You know, kids that age have no concept of quality. Look at the TV shows they like. You could have Mark of the Wolves and Pit Fighter next to each other. Kids might prefer Pit Fighter.

For kids over the age of 10:
Marvel Vs Capcom.

They love that shit. Even if it is a crap game.
