Nobody called me.
Seriously, take your childhood self back to 1984 and imagine having a private arcade. I would have given my right arm to have what I have now…or just one game for that matter. Experiencing it with your younglings is the best.
Jason
Oh, I still do that, but I'm wondering how much longer that's gonna be enough. I'm trying to live out the Arcade fantasy with my youngest who's got five years of middle/high school left. If everything goes to plan, he will then be attending the university I work at which is about 5 miles away. So he'll be able to live at home during those four years as well. He is my biggest advocate in the family. Just a great all-around kid. My wife hates the Arcade, my oldest boy could care less about the Arcade, my daughter is too busy working and chasing guys. Rayce is my support person. He loves the Arcade and loves his dad and loves hanging out with me in the arcade. So hopefully we can do this for another nine years before I have to start thinking about downsizing once he's out of the house completely. At my last house, I'd power them all up just to watch the marquees and attract modes in unison. It's calming.
Let's see, she started with Ms Pac, then Dr. Mario, then Qbert. She played all of those games about one time each. Then she wanted a Theater of Magic after playing it at the POF. Looked for a TOM, but could only find an Arabian Nights (same designer) so I bought that instead. She never played it so I sold that to fund five years of pinball purchases. I then had to sell all my pins to fund a down payment on this lake house. Everything spent a year in storage, and then when we moved here, this room was literally designed to be dedicated to these machines, with her blessing. But once I got them in here, she's never liked it. We just had a discussion about it again this weekend. She's basically saying "I thought you were gonna turn that Arcade into more of a family friendly place." I said "what are you talking about? We've got games, bl carpet, sweet lighting, music, a beautiful booth I just built and a wonderful granite wet bar with full back bar. There's a dual basketball hoop in addition to arcade games, what else do I have to do?" She said "well I thought there would be less games and more couches and sitting areas and places to eat" and I'm like "what the hell do you think the booth i built is for?" and she's like "yeah but that's not really what I was thinking. I was thinking of something more elegant." It literally doesn't matter what I do I will never make this woman happy. And now her and my oldest boy gang up on me with what the direction of the game room should be going forward. He wants a pool table, she wants seating and all but 2 games gone.Your wife doesn't have any favorite game or pin? That's how you get that to work![]()
