Food Fight Red shirt vs. Stripe shirt

I had no idea there was a difference, and I was chatting with Chris (ENDOFLINE) and he was like, "Oh, I saw your Food Fight the other day, and you got the striped shirt. Nice. Very nice."

I forget exactly the reason why Chris said the striped was preferred, and it may have been something as simple as the striped were earlier models. Which is cool. Sounds like there are more striped shirts, though. Oh well, I won't get rich off the one I have. Sigh. My plans are ruined.

Two things: gregatron, why would you not just tell us where to get repro art if it exists?
Also, how in the hell is my serial number over 2000 if there were only 1951 made (like I've read everywhere).

Mine is 0015 and it has the striped shirt.

Mine: 0007 and it has the striped shirt.

How did 2 low serial numbers of the same game, made in California, both end up in the Chicago area? I guess the first shipment went to a distributor around here.

OK, I think I unintentionally put this one to bed. So, as I may have mentioned earlier, I just procured a Food Fight machine from eBay. The CPO is pretty worn, so I was lucky enough to also win a bid for the Phoenix Arcade re-manufactured CPO.

As I said, my side art has a Red Shirt, and so does my CPO, but then I got this brand new one from Phoenix Arcade and realized...he has a striped shirt. Sure enough there is a revision number on the very bottom of both pieces of artwork.

It turns out, Revision A is in fact the Striped Shirt. (as you can see in the pictures). Revision B is a solid shirt. That means that I can almost certainly assume Striped Shirt cabinets are among the oldest...not that any of them are young.

Unfortunately this now raises an issue for me...should I change it? I really want to restore this thing to it's former glory, but in doing so I would be removing the beat-up, yet matching CPO in lieu of a mint condition Revision A version.

I'm posing a new thread here [http://x.co/J7p7] for advice.

OMG, I'm hanging on your every word! :)

If there is in fact a Revision B reproduction...I'd gladly jump on it!

Thanks for the teaser :)

OR, what you could do is sell your beat up Rev A cp to one of us that needs one (like me!) and buy another cp to put your controls and new cp on for your machine!

ok heres what I know based on the orginal FF side art films
there are 3 revisions A-B-C

the interresting thing on these at least for the sideart
was that each change was done on the orginal set of films
(almost like a work in progress) so revisions from my stand point are improvments
either techinically or artistically if that makes sense

so for example where we have RevA 12-15-82 with red striped shirt.
they took the same set of films cut, scratched or glue in rubylith to make the art changes.
So when we get to RevC 2-8-83
they cover the stripes to be printed red with a solid patch of rubylith

or in the case of small detail that what proably too hard to keep aligned they just
scratch off the black right off the film.
in this case there were thin black outlines on A and B Revs around the red frickles
problem was regestration so by the time they did the 3rd of the art they solved that problem by removing themscratching them right off the films!
not sure if you can see that in the pic

It also wouldnt suprize me or be uncommon especially on the later serial #s if some of these art changes didnt overlap on the same cab like solid shirt Side Art and striped shirt
Bezel or Cpo.

Not sure what the repro plans are Im just the knowlegable art middleman on it
but Im sure the word will be given when the time comes.
so not to worry

Wow! You certainly know your stuff! It is funny that you mention the revision c, when I started doing a full inspection I realized that the artwork around the screen on my machine is in fact revision c but the header is revision b.

Seems like there isn't really a right way to have the machine configured, bit it would certainly be cool to be able to purchase full reproductions.

well there you have it!
one way to look at revisions is the later will usally be better one way or the other
thats why they were done. Some of the reasons were obvious

but sometimes hard to say why, the striped shirt couldve been problematic for other parts of printing.

Unrelated example:
I used to print alot of corporate graphics. the orginal colors of the Enron logo for example were red blue and yellow. Later they relized they couldnt xerox the logo as the yellow would disapear in all copies
so everything was revised/reprinted and the yellow was changed to green.
lucikly that change was made before screening the Enron field Astros ballpark :D

Ya, I know exactly what you mean...I've also worked in graphics and had the same tasks :). Either way...I love this forum because you can find out some great historical information!

My machine looks awesome now with the reprinted Phoenix Arcade CPO. I hope it gives me a hundred years of great play! :)

I've known about the striped / solid shirt on the side art, but never noticed about the marquee, CPO, or bezel.

My bezel is a solid shirt (matches the side art). The bezel that Joe M. is selling on ebay has a striped shirt. I have a repro CPO which has the striped shirt.

I'll have to check the marquee and see what revision it is and what kind of shirt he's wearing.

The real oddity to me is that the flyer has a cabinet with striped shirt, but Charley Chuck is next to the cabinet with a full red shirt on.

Eat the cone!

Ya, I also noticed that on the flyer. Mine also has a weird thing where one side of the artwork has black outlines around the freckles that are completely not on line with the fill color inside of the freckles. The other side has no black outline.

This seems to go along with the information Rikitiki shared. I'll try to snap some pictures of it if anyone cares :). I don't want to hog up the whole forum debating Food Fight artwork...as much as I love it!
