Food Fight in So Cal on eBay (not mine)

Look close on this one, there's lots of potential warning signs.

Joystick is missing apparently, looks like it might have a battlezone stick in there. I'm guessing water damage toward the bottom with the aluminum piece on the front kickplate edge, coin door is 'new' with no coin mech, chunk of wood missing below the right side control panel, definite touchups all over.

Here is a pic of the right side. Must have had some damage and was cut. Looks nasty though!

I believe the joystick is off of a red baron seeing they use the same joystick just a different handle.

Yep - and RAM Controls makes Food Fight handles, so assuming the rest of the joystick is the same underneath, that is correctable. If you're bidding on this, I suggest asking the seller to take a picture of the underside of the control panel and post it. The Food Fight / Red Baron joystick is readily identifiable.

Looks like the part of the left side of the cabinet just broke off.

Still... for a fairly rare game, to get it in fully working condition and looking mostly nice is something.

I wouldn't pay $1000 for it or anything, but if it could be had at a discount, then it seems like a good deal.

Or maybe someone is talking up the flaws just to avoid a bidding war. :)

+1...someone's lurking...

That's a VERY nice specimen. Should bring $1k no problem. I'm sure the reserve is close to that. Fully working? Defect free marquee and bezel? Burn free monitor? Thousand.

Who gives a Sh&t about the coin doors - those can be replaced for under $50. I have an original set (rescued from a FF) in my shop.

A little flake off the side doesn't mean much. That can be repaired without too much trouble. I'd leave it as is -- all original.

Too bad it's in Cali -- there seems to be a plethora of FF cabs there. Not so in the Midwest.

i already have a much nicer food fight than this one so im not in the game. however this is not a very nice one. maybe after some things are corrected but those corrections cost money. big pieces of wood missing are a big issue (a lot more than a little flake) and take the value down even if it can be fixed it is not right now. metal parts covering some kind of damage are always suspect. all those thing slowly add up making it an average macihine in its current state. not saying someone wont drop a grand on it :). i wonder what one without those flaws is worth if that one is worth 1k?

The game is not in that bad of shape.

First the bad....

There is a bit of water damage on both the left and right side of the cab. I would say about 3-4 inches up from the bottom on both sides. Nothing you can really see though and nothing on the front. If you take your hand across it you can tell. The cabinet is solid so it is more or less just between the art work and the outer side of the cab. The stick is from a Red Barron and needs the handle and a new centering bellow. It is the right stick besides the handle. It is missing that piece from under the right side of the cp. The guy was shocked when I showed him and had never noticed it. The cp has a plastic cover over it that will come off by removing the buttons. The cpo is needing to be replaced but who ever did the work before this guy got it painted the cp to match in the area that is missing....so its not that bad. I will replace it once I find a NOS one. (All the repos have the striped shirt! ) Oh and it needs the top part of the coin door. I just so happen to have a few laying around!

And now the good....

Its a Food Fight! ;)
The monitor looks to have been replaced in 99ish and it has no burn in at all. It plays great with the exception of a bit of a centering problem due to the bellow. Its an easy fix. All the art work is really nice. The marquee and bezel are perfect. The side art and kick need a little touch up but I know someone that is great with a set of sharpies!

Overall it is not a bad game. The guy wanted 1000.00 for it (said he paid 1600.00 10 years ago) and by email I offered 600.00. He came back at 800.00 and said to come see it. After talking to him a while (really nice guy) I offered 700.00...and that was it. I wrapped the hell out of it with shrink wrap and brought it home in the rain! Got it back to the shop....no problem....or was there....
To be continued!
