The board boots and states that the NVRAM is good, but it's not saving the high scores. I don't currently have a schematic to reference. Can anyone help me here?

Interesting...I am having a similar issue with my I, Robot. I tried putting on a new X2212 chip on it last night, but it still would not save any scores, and it definitely used to. I think the X2212 is the same chip that is responsible for saving scores on FF and I, Robot.
Not sure if it's related, but I also get a message every time when I first power up the game that the joystick needs to be centered which the game then automatically does after I hit the fire button (and then it's fine).
I also tried swapping in another quad Pokey chip I had on hand, but again, it did not fix the problem.
The only place I could find that still lists them for sale is arcadechips.com. I was surprised as I got the ones I have now awhile back and I don't recall having too much trouble finding them then. But I only have 3 left now...
