Food Fight has one of the coolest attract modes, ever. Sadly, when in free play you don't get to see it. With my games and my small kids, its easier to have all the games on free play than not. Is there any way to make a hack to have Food Fight in free play with the attract mode? Is that something that would be easy to do? It sure would be amazing.

You can do the standard hack where you run a wire from the player 2 button to the coin-up switch. Take it out of free play mode.

Press player 2 once and it puts a credit on it. Then press player 1 to start. Or press player 2 twice for a 2 player game.

Simple, works well and allows the attract mode to work. Otherwise, if someone has written a rom hack that will be even better but I don't know if it exists yet.

It just shows the level being played over and over in free play. Take it off free play and check out the attract mode. It's cool.

Bumping this old thread.

Anyone with 68K coding skills able to pick this up to improve the Food Fight attract mode with free play?

So… I just always credit up the game manually… I'm too lazy to pull out the game right now what does the "built in" free play offer? Just no high scores? Boring attract screen?

yeah pretty much, I'm surprised no one has done an updated free play mod for it

this chip will never get done because its a waste of time and no one would buy it. Just do like the guys said and wire the p2 start to coin 1 and then you have it all. You can play 1 or 2 player still and the p2 button doubles up for coin and play start, it doesnt get any easier. It already has high score save and attract options what would be the point? It will take you longer to do a chip mod than the wire mod!
Here is your freeplay chip, please paypal me 45 bucks after you install it!

I applied this little mod today with a small wire soldered to pins 13 and 16 on the pcb connector as I don't have an extra board like in the pic. It works fine, thanks for the info.
