Where can I purchase a pot for an RCA monitor in my robotron? I went to mouser and Bob Roberts page but it's obvious I'm search for the wrong item

Thanks!

RCA is the tube, not the monitor.

Look on Bob's "What's My Monitor?" page at the bottom to determine what chassis you have.

Then we can assist with your focus issue...

Well that would make sense...
It looks like a WG k4600...

It's kinda hard to tell as the pics are pretty small.

It does have to 2 cards..power cord in the same spot...resisters int he same spot

The focus pot in located off board mounted on the monitor chassis.

I tried adjusting it a bit and it pretty much disintegrated in my hand

That's a special pot. Remember, you are adjusting the focus voltage which is 8000 volts! Ordinary pots won't work.

Check with Chad at arcadecup.

Your best bet would be to get one from a parts chassis.
Just double check it's a K4600 before anyone goes looking. (already sounds like it is)

I hadn't heard much about that.
I don't know that the failure rate of those would really constitute doing it. (beings the failure rate seems pretty low in my experience)

Chad posted on October 4 2009:

"Crossing fingers on the 4600 to be done..
I made sure the focus pot must be redone. All or nothing."

I have an email into Chad..

In the mean time does anyone know the specs on the focus potentiometer? There's a ton of places on the web that sells POTs. Being it's not solder to a board and only has 2 wires going to it, I could use darn near anything that electronically fits the bill..as physically size is not an issue.

Damn.. I was SOOOOO close to getting the Robotron back up and running. In fact it was running and I got a couple games on it before I attempted to adjust the focus

It is like a 25 MegaOhm potentiometer, and as Ken mentioned, rated @ 8000v or something.

Probably still best to let someone scrounge you one up. (I know I probably have one laying around if I dug through my parts bins)

Well, the focus pot crumbling would probably mean it needs replacing, but there is a cap on the neckboard that can cause focus problems, too, if it goes bad...
