Will a Re-Cap sometimes rectify focus issues? I have a K4900 that aside from the fact it won't quite focus, looks great. It gets REAL CLOSE, but then backs out the other direction never quite getting full focus. It appears to my unknowing eye that the RED is the most out of focus.

Will a recap fix this or am I looking at needing a new tube or rejuving this one?

I'm having the same problem with my K4900 and both Dokert and Mod said to check the neck pin . The wire that goes from the flyback to the neckboard and is in that white plastic box soldered to the pin . I haven't messed with it yet but plan on doing it soon .

It seems solid and connected. Not sure how to check it otherwise?

It's just a HAIR out of focus...again, mostly in the RED... I have to adjust the black level to ZERO to get any decent focus out of it though...the higher the black level, the less focused everything seemed to be...

I have a cap kit, but the monitor looks beautiful other than this issue (geometry is spot on, colors seem fine, etc)...and I won't wast my time recapping it just yet if it has zero possibility of rectifying the focus issue.

try turning down the red to see if it helps. Also turn down the contrast a bit. If it does, but the red is too dim, then recap and rejuv....

I see no "contrast" adjustment... black level? That's at minimum.

I'll adjust the red.

replace the electrolytic capacitors. it fun to do them one at a time and see the difference they do make.
