Hey gang-

Trying to help my brother remember a game he played... it was a sit-down flying game where you flew a WWII F4U Corsair. There were Corsairs on the marquee. The game perspective was from the cockpit of the plane. The controls were a flight-style joystick mounted to the CP (as opposed to the floor). This was in 1986 or 1987 (I remember playing Rampage at the same arcade). That's about all he remembers, other than loving the game and pumping about 20 bucks worth of quarters into it!

Thanks!

Oh, if it helps, here's what a F4U Corsair looks like:

Well, it's not cockpit-view, nor a Corsair, but:

Other games with WWII-era planes on the marquee:

this one is cockpit style (circa 1984):

the artwork on the 1942 is a corsair but I didn't think it was in a cockpit cab

Yep, I see that. I sent him the links for 1942 and Two Tigers, to see if that rings a bell. His memory ain't what it used to be, so for all I know he's trying to remember Q*Bert! :D

I though that he meant the gameplay was as viewed from the cockpit (like Two Tigers is), not that the game was a cockpit. Two Tigers has some weird controllers, too...

His memory is that it was a sit down game & the POV was from your plane's cockpit. But again, 25 years ago and his memory of the game might be fuzzy. I'm still waiting to hear back from him.

I think he's remembering 1942, but with all wrong details. The thing is, the one part I know he'd remember is that there was a Corsair on the marquee... and 1942 fits that bill. We'll see... I don't remember that arcade (we were on a trip in Wyoming or Colorado) having any rare games... I recall playing Rampage & Elevator Action a good deal.

Ok- He said it's definitely not any of those & he remembers playing 1942 a bunch BITD, so he's sure it's not that one. He said the things he's most positive about was that it was cockpit POV and it was a WWII game.

Yeah, I initially thought Red Baron, because at first he said it MIGHT have been a vector... but I didn't know that one came as a sit-down as well. I'm going to run this & Tora Tora past him... see if that jogs his memory.
