Flyback Xformer WIRES for EH-G07... where to buy? Who sells?

So far this is all I can muster up for insulated anode/cathode wire:

Need new wire to replace bad cathode wire on a somewhat-new FBT (A-29951B) for a EH G07-CB0.

Original wires are:
  • white (cathode) is 22awg and rated for up to 20kv
  • red (anode) wire is also 22awg, but rated for 40kv
I'm seriously surprised that @security0001 does not stock/sell this on his site! he usually has EVERYTHING!
 
Cut some off of a dead flyback. (One reason to save them.)

You'll also need more than 20kV rated for the anode, as it runs at 23-25kV (I think) for a G07. That's why they used 40kV.

You'll also need to silicone any joints, if you're going to splice HV wires. Regular electrical tape or shrink tubing won't cut it.

omfg, i'm so glad you chimed in with that tidbit! prior to the repair i am doing now, the cathode wires were soldered on and just wrapped with electrical tape.

i removed all the "loose" electrical tape and wires, and was going to slide on shrink tubing, resolder back on and call it a day... shit... what silicone do you buy for HV electronics work? give me a link!
 
Any RTV silicone at an auto parts store. It's also sold as 'gasket maker', but as long as it says RTV silicone it should be fine. I forget what brand I use, but I got it at my local auto parts place.

You can glom it on any joints, making sure to cover them well (leaving no air gaps). Then you can shrink tube over them after it cures, if you want it to look a little prettier, but it isn't necessary. The dielectric rating of electrical tapes and shrink tubing alone aren't high enough, and 20kV of HV will punch right through them.

So many gd choices (100s and 100s), just make this easy for me and PICK ONE!
 
Remember to allow the RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanization) to cure. That will take time.

RTVs like this use VOCs (volatile organic compounds) thus the smell.

If you don't wait for a full cure, you can have a short and damage.

Read and follow the instructions. You may be able to accelerate the cure by adding heat.
 
When it comes to this stuff, the simpler the better. You don't need high-temp, extra stiff, etc.

I've used the black gasket maker, as well as the blue regular stuff. Both Permatex.

This newer stuff doesn't give off the same vinegar smell the old stuff used to. But you definitely want to let it cure a couple of days, and make sure it's solid all the way through (as it will cure on the outside first, but you'll feel it still be squishy inside.) You want to wait until it's firm all the way through.
 
the clear RTV silicone seems the coolest to me and love to see thru it, but it's rated the worst, and even not recommended for electronics as it states directly on the package!

but alas, i'll go with the boring black gasket maker option.
 
You can probably go to the Permatex site, and with a little digging, find the datasheets for each product. That should tell you the dielectric rating, in kV. Just in case you want to compare. I know I looked one of them up once, but it wasn't the clear one.
