Flyback disconnected from yoke connector, how to fix?

I got a new K7000, but during shipping the thick black wire from that goes from the flyback to the yoke connector on the neck board broke off. It is still connected to the yoke, but not in the yoke connector (the white connector with 10pins that connects to the yoke). Is this something that can be fixed? It seems like this area of the yoke connector may slide apart but I wasn't sure.

Also, why do people spell it 'yolk'?

Thanks,
Darren

Same reason people call the neckboard the yoke connector. :D

What you're referring to (I believe) is that the focus wire broke out of the tube neck connector on the neckboard. You can simply open up the socket - there's a little tab on the side, near the keyway, that opens that cover, and you can solder the wire back on.

(Hint. The yoke is the coil of copper wire mounted on the neck of the tube. It has a four pin connector, and connects only to the chassis.)

I think you are talking about the neck adaptor. Most of them will open up or slide apart. The wire is usually soldered to an eyelet inside that opening.

However, sometimes the wire is held in via a compression fit. Is there exposed conductor on the end of the wire? Does it look like it was twisted or soldered?

Ok, so maybe I should have said '10pin neck connector' in my original post?

There is no exposed wire - the exposed wire probably snapped off and is still inside the neck connector.

I look and looked and couldn't see a tab for opening it, but I will look again.

Thanks for your help,
Darren

Yeah, if you look at the hole where that wire was supposed to connect in, you should see a seam there, follow it around until you find where you can open it, it's kind of hidden usually. But when you open it up, there is just a solder eyelet there that the wire solders in to. Usually. On a K7000, it should be an eyelet. Some use a push-in type connection. Take a picture of the socket if you can't find it, there are a few different styles. But we've seen them all :)
