Fluorescent paint/artwork ideas for bottom of Tron?

I keep having this crazy thought of putting some type of fluorescent paint job or artwork on the bottom portion of a Tron cabinet. Am I alone? If you look at the bottom part of the bottom artwork piece (the one below the CP that has a blacklight behind it) youll find it has a clear window projecting the blacklight towards whats below it, although all thats below it is a plain jane Midway coin door and a plain black bottom protion of the cabinet.

Anyway Ive been thinking how cool it might be to put some fluorescent "touch up's", like special paint for the coin door perhaps? Maybe some matching artwork to put around it? Has anyone ever thought of this?

The bigger question is, where could someone get the paint or artwork for this crazy idea?

I'm also curious if anyone's ever thought of some cool way to get a similar effect with the T-molding. Anyone?

never thought of it but if you look at the tron themed video pinball Rich brought to CAX I'm sure it will give you some good ideas. The art near the kick plate area comes to mind.

Though I've not done it, I think some EL Wire, such as a light blue, could look nice on a Tron. You could try it on the interior edges and/or outlining parts of the coin door.

There are many sources, but this is a good place to start:

EL Wire sample kit

I've seen it as a mod for some pins and it does look nice when done right.

On a related note - My plexi with the art over the bottom blacklight is extremely faded - anyone found a good way to touch that up? buy flourescent paint and touch it up by hand?

So I take it you did end up getting the Tron off of Craigs list? Very cool. Its on my list to get as well/ love to see your photos of before and after!

Buy the beautiful reproduction plastic from Phoenix Arcade. A touch up will never be as nice. I'd leave the cabinet original, mods are for pinball machines IMHO.

WOW - thanks! I had no idea they were repro'd. Not sure I want to spend $110 on it right now though. Maybe I'll try this sometime: http://driph.com/words/2008/12/refreshing-the-tron-lower-plastic/

Replacing your plastics will be the best money you've ever spent. It's a lot to choke on, but SOOOOO worth it. The highlighter trick works nominal at best. I tried it and saw very little difference...even after doing it several times. The repros have so much WOW factor that anything else pales in comparison.

Yeah - def something to consider for the future. I can't swallow that $110 pill right now :) it does look really good though. Too many other things to work on that can use the money :)

Understood...just make sure you put it in your to do list. Once you replace your CPO and everything, replacing those plastics just makes it glow ridiculously.

You could always paint a red recognizer with a blue laser getting ready to fire around the coin door with an iso view of 2 cycles(orange and blue) racing & coming out of the grid plane at the bottom. But that's just throwing out the first idea that pops into my head.
