fluorescent bulb/starter for a Universal (mr do) cabinet

I found a post suggesting that a Nintendo 100v fl-10d bulb should be used. I borrowed one from my DK and it worked. However, I have concerns. First of all, it's a 120v cab so I'm afraid it would overpower the bulb (short life?). Also, it doesn't have the same screw in style starter. It has the more standard 2 post quarter turn style starter. It is the right length though. Unfortunately I don't see any indication on the fixture of what it should use.

One fixture has what looks like an original starter in it. It says "FS-2P" (pictured below). The other fixture has what looks like a replacement starter - "FS-25", which doesn't seem correct since that's for a 25 watt bulb (but maybe it's OK to use a 25 watt starter for a 10 watt bulb???).

Yes, I would prefer to use the original fixture even if it means having bulbs and starters shipped at slightly higher cost.

So what bulb and starter should I use for these fixtures?

does the wiring to the fixture come off a transformer that adjusts the power going to this fixture allowing 100v or does it come straight from the AC line? Nintendo used this type fixture in their games. You are right that a FS25 is for a 25 watt light, not what you are needing.

It is factory wired to the transformer, so I imagine I could rewire it assuming it has 100v taps, but if I'm going to have to special order the bulb anyway, I'd rather special order one that works with 120v (if one exists).

If no one knows what bulb to use, I'll poke around on topbulb.com to see if I can figure it out. Hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction though.

Doing some research, I think cheaper F10T8 bulbs are considered to be truly 120v whereas the more expensive (~$10) bulbs are 100v, but I'm also finding some cases where people use the "wrong" voltage bulb and don't have any trouble with it. So I think I'm set there (although I wouldn't mind some confirmation or alternatives).

For the starter, FS-5 is a 4w/6w/8w starter and FS-4 is a 13w/30w/40w. FS-U is 4-30W, so this would be apparently the right choice (can't find anything specifically for 10w).

bulb and starter

Hey Jeff, Atalanta Light Bulbs(888-968-2852) has everything you need. The have the correct starter for the correct bulb. The bulbs are$2.54 each and shows as the right cross over bulb #f10t8cw. The starter is $2.59 and the cross # fg7e . the only thing is they have a $25.00 min. Hope this helps. Maybe you can find something closer. There use to be a place in Beaverton that i would get odd size bulbs for the jukeboxes when i had a route

Thanks Darrell, though mine doesn't have the screw in style starters. I ordered from bulbster.com and I'm fairly confident I got what I need.

You are always so helpful. I didn't want to ask yet another question and take up more of your time, but here you are helping out again anyway. :)
