I recently acquired a broken 9010A. The display did not work. When powered on the display showed some characters, but they did not change. The keyboard did not respond either. Luckily, I own a second working 9010A. I disassembled my good one and plugged the display plus keyboard to the bad 9010A and everything was o.k.

Now I could focus on the display/keyboard module. I checked the output pins of the 8041 UPI on the display PCB. The output pins (20,21, …) remained always in the high state. I swapped the 8041 from the good 9010A to the bad one and now the broken 9010A worked perfectly.

The 8041 includes a 1k ROM, and I see no chance of getting a replacement for it. But there are still some 8741 out there, the EPROM version of 8041. The program of the 8041is available on the web, too. But my EPROM programmer cannot handle the 8741. But e.g. the Galep-5 seems to be capable of programming the 8741. Is there anyone out there in the EU who is willing to help me to program the 8741 for me? I would provide the 8741 and the ROM content (and of course I would pay for work and shipping).

Thanks in advance!
