The right flipper on my secret service pinball stays in the up position....what would be the cause of this and how do i fix it?

I can push it back down with my finger and it will stay down...but one i engage the flipper it does not come back down...it stays up.....the end of stroke contacts, by visually viewing them seem to be doing what they are supposed to be doing....theb again i never looked that them with the game on....only looked at it with game off amd moved the end of stroke switch with my fingers.

I am not familiar with Secret Service, but generally speaking, flippers sticking can be caused by electrical or mechanical issues. A good first step is to get the flipper stuck then turn the game off. If the flipper drops you have an electrical issue. If it stays up with the game off you have a mechanical issue.

good thinking.

it could be the spring, or maybe the coil sleeve is grimy. it could even be put together wrong.

if you intend on keeping the machine awhile it might just be beneficial to get a flipper rebuild kit.

Well its working now..i didnt do anything to it except what i explained in my original post....came home after work...lowered they play field down..turned it on and flipper was no longer staying up....but flipper power is kinda weak.

End of stroke switch is broken. But something really strange that I have seen several times is when the rod that pulls into the coil gets worn directly with the coil stop, it can develop a weak magnetism and cause some sticking. This can be remedied by scuffing both the end of the rod and the coil stop. I have also seen this on relays so I know it is more than the mushroom catching a wear groove in the sleeve.
