The fuse under the playfield for my Flight 2000 keeps blowing, it is a 1amp slow blow. Could a bad bridge rectifier on the rectifier board be the issue? The recitifier board is all original so it still has the old bridge rectifiers on it which from what I understand are not strong enough. I have ordered 3 new bridge rectifiers for it which are 35 amp 400 volt where as the original bridge rectifiers are 8amp 200volts.

Seems unlikely. I would expect the solenoid fuse on the rectifier board to blow if that bridge was bad. There should be a procedure to test the bridges on pinrepair.com but I would just check the solenoid voltage first. If the solenoid voltage looks good you can assume the bridge is good.

Does the fuse blow when you turn on the machine or when the first solenoid is energized? If the fuse blows when the first solenoid is energized I would suspect a shorted coil diode or coil winding. If it blows when the game is powered on I would suspect a wiring short somewhere on the playfield or a shorted driver transistor AND a shorted coil diode or coil winding.

They were strong enough to work for the last 30 years but they're generally considered underrated. In any case I wouldn't start throwing parts at the game without testing them first. If you're just replacing parts without knowing why you could introduce new problems and compound the situation.

It blows when the first solenoid fires. I know this is a no no but it is suppose to use a 1 amp slow blow but I have put a 2.5 amp fast blow in and the pin works fine and it doesn't blow, but I want to fix the problem so I can use the proper fuse and not cause any damage to the game.

I actually had that same problem with a Stingray. Pretty sure I solved it the same way ;)

My guess would be you've got some flaky connectors.

EDIT: I remember now on that Stingray I found a bunch of coils wired to that fuse that shouldn't have been. IIRC, looking at the schematic it was supposed to supply the flippers only.

Tried to figure out the problem today with no luck so far but since the fuse blows after the first soelnoid fires is it a good assumption that the problem is with either the first solenoid or the second solenoid?
