Who does this anymore? I can't find the company I used to send my chassis to - I think it was P&L or something like that. They used to do something like $39 flat rate repair.

Does anyone know where you can send a chassis for a quick repair now-a-days?

Depends on the chassis, but lots of people work on chassis' these days.

I myself charge $50 + parts for most "normal" chassis. Also, that "$39 flat rate" meant that they only change out parts that test bad. So, if you have 30-yr-old caps and only one "tests bad", then only one cap is replaced. Who cares if your other old caps might die next week/month/whenever?

I replace every single polarized electrolytic, whether it needs it or not, unless the person sending it to me had already done so and is still having issues....

Yeah, and not every chassis was $39.

Sorry, I charge $75 for a cap kit or exchange. Flybacks extra. I do all the caps in the kit and fix known issues with various chassis. I will replace one IC in that price. More IC's are extra. If you bring a working chassis, it might do it for less as there is less troubleshooting. That's just my price. I send "tough" chassis' out to a local shop and they chrge $75 for one or more caps. I usually cap a chassis first and attempt to fix it, if I can't, I send it to them so that when I get it back I know that all the caps will be fresh and I won't have to redo it.

There are places that charge less. Sharp Image phone in Las Vegas is 702-586-4200. Tell Freddy that Pat from Pat's Classic Arcades sent you. No, I don't get anything from them. Last chassis they fixed for me was about 3 years ago. I send them the ones I can't get flybacks for.

I think Chad at arcadecup does flat rate work. Several people had recommended him, but I sent my "problem child" G07chassis to Modessitt and he went above and beyond to get it fixed.

this is why I ****ing hate PNL.

after what they charged me and to send it back to them for their bullshit "guarantee work", it cost $130 to fix my Polo. they claimed the flyback was bad and needed replacing. so what, the other 2 times the same exact problem happened the flyback went bad both times? so I had to ship it cross-country again, ran fine for about 4 months, and then BON VOYAGE! good thing that $130 came off the price of the cab I bought that it came in rather than me actually paying for it.

had a WG D9200 that they replaced color transistors on, and the flyback too I think (it was arcing like something fierce before). but guess what? they didn't re-cap the monitor. oh, and the next color transistor they didn't replace, that took a shit on it. good thing I possess the know-how to fix simple things like that myself now... seeing as how I had to replace all 3 color resistors AND all 3 transistors on the neckboard myself for the hefty sum of about oh..... $10.

oh, and the Polo? yeah, it's not going to PNL again. f them.

Thats because many do not know how to fix a polo correctly. Lots of people call me and ask for polo flybacks and I tell them over and over that the chances are over 75% that something else is wrong with it beyond the flyback so expect to have more problems even if you get it running again.. The issue with the polo is bad driving of the HOT which pulses the flyback which drives hv anode voltage which drives deflection etc.

So your going to likely blow your hot or flyback again. if its running without it fixed properly the picture probably sucks or is wide / short.

apparently those big resistors are prone to cracking the solder joints. is that what overdrives the HOT? the picture was actually pretty good on it though, just took some finesse for me to get the Screen adjusted right. (it always seemed too dark)

I've been screwing around with this Toshitba chassis in my rare spare time lately... I might get you some more info when I can check a few components on the Polo, particularly to see if the HOT really got nuked.
