Fizgig banned - a civil discussion

Reality is he could've allowed his art to be reproduced under a revenue sharing agreement and just laughed at the community as he made money off of them.

Is the guy spouting hatred/disgust posting it outside of the P&R forum? If so, where?

One member that posts that crap is doing it only in the P&R section and it took about 30 pages of one thread just to get him to realize the stupidity of his posts. :)

So being in P&R makes it safe to use the N word? Or other overt racism? I guess you have a different understanding of it than I do. And I wasn't referring to Cossack...

If the user is in the P&R section then it's in the proper section for more adult level conversations. As for the N word? That's moderator discretion, but it really depends on the use of the word and the tone of the post.

There's a lot more leeway in that section and quite a few personal attacks, but everyone shrugs those off and keeps on trying to change the other guy's mind about his political views - like THAT will ever happen. :D

Oh, and the mods only tend to crack down on that stuff when it leaks out of that section and onto the rest of the forum. Some users just can't separate out or compartmentalize the crap in that section and just carry the hatred around with them everywhere.

It's not for the faint of heart or weak of constitution. :p

so you would put up your time and money and want to give a cut to someone else who did nothing more than print?

he offered you the opportunity to buy a product that was either unavailable elsewhere or different quality.

so i'm fine him pulling his art and pics. [he doesn't owe us $hit]

I am afraid I feel that this forum and the community as a whole are weaker as a result of Fizgig's ban.

I always found his restorations/renovations/recreations inspirational and it is a shame I will no longer be able to read them in the future on this forum. Who else would go to lengths he was to rebuild a 1972 Killer Shark.

Why not? It's business. He's in the business to make money and does the printing and shipping so why shouldn't Rich get a cut?

because he could get them printed anywhere by anyone?

And those people would want to get paid for it too. So... What's your argument? That printers should print his artwork for no profit at all?

I know it may be hard to swallow, but, the world will keep spinning.

The forums were fine before the guy registered here and they will be fine after his ban.

Life does go on you know.

i cant speak for rich but i would assume some legal document was signed and probably gets between 2%-5% per sale profit.

also when fiz called and pulled the plug he was obligated to Cease and Desist all activity regarding the said art.

normally thats how business work.

Because you know the details of their agreement. Sweet.

i started with "i cant speak for rich but i would assume"

these words mean they might have some agreement, if i said "i know rich has a..."

would mean i was in loop for clarification i'm not FizGig".

I understand and appreciate your point but people with his dedication and talent are few and far between.

The hours and probably days he must have spent on those individual pieces of artwork was incredible.

I hope he starts his own blog and continues to let us see his work as it was always something I enjoyed reading immensely.

You have to realize that every single collector does not post here. The guy is not some arcade industry Saint. If thats all it takes to become a Saint, I should be canonized for the 100's of hours I gave tracing artwork in the early 00's and making it freely available to the community now shouldn't I?

This is really getting pathetic. Frankly, I am inclined to lock the thread and move on.

I certainly do not wish to upset you and I understand and greatly appreciate the hours you must put in on this forum along with many others.

I really only wished to say in my original post on this thread that I felt it is a shame what happened with Fizgig.

I also agree with your last point that people have had a chance to have their say and maybe it is time to lock the thread and move on.

Because you don't personally agree with the mostly civil discussion?

i like Dan and have had nothing but positive dealings with him. i have seldom even looked into most of his restoration posts so i have no opinion about any of that.

he is a good guy in my book and i welcome any future dealings with him. no problems.

Not that this particular case has anything to do with this thread or fizgig, but as far as I know there was only one instance I know of where a member blew a gasket not too long ago and started slinging language like that in a few rants. He was indeed perm banned for that.
