My Blitz '99 box has a good looking monitor, but makes low to high buzzing noises depending what's on screen (it gets pretty loud when playing videos in attract mode).

Does anyone have any advice or tips on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Could be that the B+ is up too high, and when the beam current increases for bright screens, it's overdriving something. Or, ir could be interference. Is the buzzing coming from the monitor, or the speakers in the game? If it's coming from the monitor, can tell what part it's coming from? Sometimes a loose flyback core will do something similar.

It sounds like it's coming from the speaker but it's hard to tell.

Now to show my ignorance...
What is the B+ and what is a flyback core?

If it really is coming from the speaker, then it's probably just interference. The speaker wires might just be too close to the monitor.

B+ is the main DC power supply voltage in a monitor. Input voltage gets rectified and filtered, then regulated to a stable, clean voltage. Usually something like 120v or so, but each monitor is different.

The flyback core is the ferrous core that's in the center of the flyback transformer. It's supposed to be secure, but sometimes in older monitors they start to get loose. They don't usually buzz thoug - it's usually a real high pitch whine.

But, if you are getting a buzz in the speaker, then it's not the monitor - it's probably just something interfereing with the speaker wires. Check to make sure they're not drooping down into the monitor or something, and that the grounds are secure.

Could be flyback or another coil - try flexing the chassis (safely) to see if it changes, if so its a fly or a coil buzzing. Sometimes you can crap a ziptie around a coil to squeeze it a little. Its the wires in the coin vibrating.
