Hi. I have a U2000 that is going dim on bright screens. On darker screens the contrast is good, but on bright screens the contrast starts good for a spit second and then dims. I cannot adjust the contrast at all when the screens are bright, however, the contrast works fine on darker screens.

Things I've done...

Full Cap Kit
Replaced LM1203
Replaced Q501 and Q502
Replaced Z601 because the voltage seemed a little low (11.0v instead of 11.8v)

None of this changed anything. I'm leaning towards the flyback, but I need a little direction 1st before order one. I've done a lot of work for naught and I really don't want to do anymore if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Thanks for your help!!

Wade

One more question.

My cap kit came with some strange values.
C810 is missing on my chassis all together and C700 came with a 1uf @ 250v and the chassis had a 220uf @ 16v. Which is right?

I left the old 220uf in place and C810 out just in case.

Thanks

c700 is a 220uf for sure so don't install that 1uf and C810 if your version was never populated DON'T populate that location.

not all cap kits are made the same, so maybe try a better quality one next time....;)

I did some poking around, and while this doesn't effect the brightness much as far as adjusting, it does make the picture clearer.
My B+ was at 118v. According to WG it should be at 127v @ TP202. I fixed that. However, TP203 says it should be at 126v. That's running about 164v. There have been so many revisions to this board that when doing my research it's hard to understand which is right.

If anyone knows for sure what is right please let me know.

I'm still having the screen dim under brighter background images. Flyback??????

Thanks
