I just spent the last 9 hours working on the $80.00 Asteroids that I purchased yesterday off of craigslist..

1 - Big Blue Cap
1- Cap Kit/Transistor Kit from Bob Roberts (Which I had bought for my Battlezone)
7- New Fuses from RadioShack (Someone did something very wrong)
1- New Diode and Transistor for the Regulator Board
1- New NTE5313 Rectifier Bridge for the Monitor Chassis

And now I am Playing some Asteroids..

I cannot get over how good the monitor looks.. (Pics don't do it justice)

Now I need to strip the control panel (rust) and buy a new CPO....

I am a Happy Camper..

Chris

Looks great!

I have to do the same for my A/D.

Looks like you have the first revision set, pick up the Braze HS save kit, it only works with revision two but he send the needed chip with the kit, and of course the most important thing ...it saves your score... :)

You know what NTE stands for, right?

Normally Too Expensive.

I had to pay $4.50 for a TIP125 transistor when theyre normally 65 cents, simply because the sales guy couldnt find the other brand :(

Sweet job on the Asteroids! It wont be long until the smaller space alien starts pissing you off ;)

Congrats and yes you need the HS Save kit. Here's what a dead $80 Asteroids looks like in South Carolina.

And here's what happens with a little work and some new parts.

You were lucky that you got a working board. Although I got mine repaired for $60, so it wasn't too bad.

Anyway welcome to the club. And if you're interested here's my mini restoration photoset.
