I'm having an issue with a K7000 that I'm trying to get running again. Cap kit has been done and flyback replaced. I did an inspection and continuity check and traces seem good on chassis, neck board, and remote board. The picture is scrambled as shown here and adjustments don't seem to help any. Any ideas on where I could check for problems? Thanks.

Gonna do a Pot connection check later today, see if maybe one went bad or is disconnected. I know I reflowed them all but didn't check for broken legs.

Double check your input header, you might need a reflow on pin10 which is your negative composite sync.

what game?
that looks like a TPG lol

also I don't think that's a signal header fault, that's something to do with H. Hold. which for those playing the home game, that's not on the remote board if your K7000 has one, it's on the deflection board close to the flyback. both the remote board and deflection board pots are highly prone to breakage on these. you could also get a weird symptom if the H. Pos is broken, I don't remember what it is now.

I did a continuity test on each leg of every pot on the chassis, neck board, and remote board. they're all good. I also saw that I was only running one sync wire from the TPG and I thought I hit the jackpot. Made a new cable and booted it up. Negative. Same picture :(

Edit: I also reflowed almost every connection on the 3 boards, including the video header pins.

Is the TPG set to medium res? Have you ever successfully used it before? Try it on another monitor if you have one.
lol this is something I forget about and overlook sometimes. this is probably what it is. there should be a small slide switch for resolution but if it's a super old TPG those may have been dipswitches

Mine is a dipswitch setup. It's on STD res

maybe your RGBGS connector is one pin off where it plugs in to the chassis? done that, been there
got pics?
It does look like the Golden Tee Fore I just hooked up and the pcb was set to Med res instead of STD

Also tried swapping out the remote boards. No such luck.

One of the two 'V. Pos' wire from the remote board onto the chassis was broken. I have soldered it back onto the correct connection but wanted to point that out as a possible anomaly here.

Do you have a regular PCB to test with? Also the TPG can have issues if the battery is low.

Battery was just replaced (because I'm an idiot and always forget to turn it off). I will test with a board here shortly and report back.

Ok, few things of note here:

Can anyone tell me if these two red wires are factory on a K7000?

Here are examples for a parts board, and a 2nd K7000 where there's a jumper next to the neckboard harness

I'm gonna make this a separate comment to make it less confusing:

I noticed that there isn't a second wire for V.Hold on the scrambled chassis. Is that normal as well?

Along those lines, there was a broken wire from the remote to V.Pos when I first got this chassis. I soldered it directly to the board. I don't think this is the cause of my issue as it has continuity from the pad to the remote board, but wanted to point it out.

With some help, I was told to try IC1 and IC2. Replaced them both from a spare board and it's up and running. Thanks for the input everyone (y)
