Hey everybody! I've put a wSYSFPGA V1.3 board in this ol Stargate and I can not get the output right... Its giving me this "split screen" like it's maybe stuck in VGA output? I've tried every jumper configuration and sync option that I can possibly think of, all with the same results.
It's a K4900 that works perfectly fine hooked up to a TPG, and worked with other original Williams board sets. I've run out of ideas, feel I'm missing something obvious.

And yes, moved the jumper for the "VGA enable" to the off setting, and taken it off, and put it on enable. The strange thing, if I turn "enable VGA scan lines" on, it eliminates half the screen, so only one squished image is on one half the screen...

Not strange at all, and confirms that you're feeding a VGA signal to your standard resolution monitor.
For standard res, you can just remove that VGA jumper. Then you use either the negative composite sync off the JAMMA connector, or the separate positive H and V syncs off the 2-pin header of the board.

Hey Matt!

Therein lies the problem though. I've had the VGA jumper removed and still get the same result. I've tried both of those sync combinations as well, JAMMA and directly off the board...
All I can come up with is that the board is stuck in VGA output somehow, but the jumper isn't shorted either. I email jrok himself, still waiting to hear back. I'll try everything again for a tenth time and see if I'm just overlooking something...

Yeah, definitely wait and see what James says. I don't have that latest board rev (with the VGA connector on it)... don't know if it has any quirks.

Heard back from James, gave me a few points to look over, so I'll get back at it tomorrow.
VectorCollector, The board came with the jumper in the disabled position, and I've had it on and off like 100 times trying to see if I messed up somewhere. The disabled pair of pins tests shorted in continuity, so the jumper shouldn't matter.
I've also run composite sync and separated sync on both pos and neg, all with the exact same results. Wiring harness is all correct as well. It must be stuck in VGA output, that's what all signs are pointing too.

I'm gonna get into the nitty gritty of the board next, I was hoping I was just missing something obvious.

Thanks for the help y'all! I'll let you know what I find out!

Fixed!

Okay, few more emails got sent and just got this working!
I added a 4.7k resistor between the VGA pin and the 5v rail, and viola! No longer stuck in VGA output. Some images of the board I saw had a smd resistor between the pin and rail, so not sure if it got knocked off or was never there to begin with?
Either way, it's up and running! Thanks for the help! And hope this helps someone Lee down the road!

(Also, dealing with Jrok was nothing but a pleasure, well supported products and all around nice guy!)

Thanks for the update.
Had to be something simple like a missing pull-up resistor.
This is the first "bad board" I've heard of.
