Fixed a flat screen monitor with the help of this video.... someone from KLOV ?

I used to replace the back lights on monitors, but I found the replacement back lights from Shopjimmy were only lasting about two years before burning out so now I just replaced the entire monitor with something from Best Buy.

Keep in mind that the arcades that I service are generally open 10 to 16 hours a day so that is a lot of use.

I've replaced a backlight LED strip twice in my TV. Unfortunately the 2nd time I somehow didn't seat a ribbon cable fully, and blew half the screen. It's not a hard job but double if not triple check your work. You can also replace individual LED's if you don't have a full new strip.

The design of the backlights impedes them from lasting longer than a few years unless the monitor has a *lot* of airflow going through the internals and the arcade machine. The backlight strips don't have good heat transfer to the metal frame of the monitor, thus overheating the individual LEDs and causing imminent failure with time.

Cheap TVs from Best Buy, Walmart et al. won't fail the same way however their LEDs will start to internally decompose and turn from white to blue, causing the entire picture to have a strong blue hue and requiring you to replace the backlights, IF you're lucky to find replacements for those random cheap TVs. I'd rather keep the original serviceable monitors than swap out entire screens with different sizes and mounting holes throughout the same period of time.
