Is this fixable?

My MK4 monitor looks great when it comes on but after being on for a a couple minute gets worse and worse looking eventually looking like this after being on for half an hour. If it is fixable does anybody know anyone in the Charlotte, NC area that could fix it? I don't feel comfortable messing with it.

A solid place to start would be to have someone install a cap kit. When caps get marginal, their values vary with heat.... so it would explain your symptoms. Other things could be wrong, but that would be your starting point.

What brand and model number of monitor is this? Knowing this info will help in troubleshooting the chassis for you. If you are unsure post a picture of the chassis. Maybe a Wells Gardner K7400 monitor.

Someone on here will know if there is someone in the Charlotte NC area.

There are several people on here who repair chassis. Myself included.

This is textbook flyback failure. Any time you have drifting focus or drifting brightness, it's a sign that the flyback is going bad. Replace it and you'll be good. Your chassis is most likely a Neotec 2515c or a WG K7400.

I am pretty sure it is a Neotec. Sorry forgot to add that. Is a fly back tough to replace?

my MK4 has a k7000 but i had one with a U2000 but yes i have flybacks and cap kits if you need otherwise people on here like Paul400, ecwestjr, and buffett can fix them if you don't want to try yourself.

It's not exactly easy if you've never done it before. The first time I did it, it took me forever to get all the old solder off (all I had was wick) and get the old one removed.

I also recommend Buffett if you want someone to do it for you. He seems to get backed up from time to time, but does great work.

"is a flyback hard to change" some models are easier than others.

to the average arcade hobbyist.. no
for the beginner.. maybe.
I mean its not rocket science.. if you have a solder pullit and soldering iron
you can do it.
if i was closer id do it for you in 10 mins.

Yeah I love fixing these things I can do a flyback in like 15-20 minutes. It's not too bad tbh.
