Is this worth the trouble? I am trying to replace the battery in my fisherman's bait. I open the little blue computer inside not to find a nice round battery, but a little black box saying Timekeeper Ram lithium battery.

Its seemed to be securely attached to the baord. I do not have the soldering skills to fix this.

Any way around this?

Other than keeping the machine on there isn't really a way to circumvent the Gx700 board's battery as it is what controls your credit settings or a number of other things depending on what game it's playing (the system 573 was konamis workhorse back in the 90's).

I'd post in the wanted thread that you are seeking someone to socket the battery port and put a new battery on it. That's what I'm going to have to do for my DDR, drum mania, and guitar freaks boards sooner than later. There may be someone that offers to do it for a reasonable price. Doesn't hurt to ask. Just say it's for the system 573 motherboard and those that know how to do it will know what you are talking about.

I've got about 7 of the chips here, new stock and can swap them out for you after I get the shop running and a few repairs out the door.

I'll have to do it to my Fisherman's Bait too but since it's not a suicide thing with this game it's not urgent to replace mine. :)

do you have to reprogram the chip/board after you replace the battery
I think when the time keeper battery dies or if you remove it, the game board wont work
unless you copy something?

Not sure Eric, haven't checked the FB boardset I have for that and haven't backed up the TK RAM. The boardset hasn't been powered up in a long time.
