Fishtales started having trouble at start up. It would flash on and off eight to twelve times and then would work fine. Now, it is having the startup problem and now is re-setting during games. Any ideas? Thanks
Next time it does this, leave it on, remove the backglass and open up the head. On the power driver board ( biggest board in the head ) find the 5 volt test point and check it with a meter. It is a small metal post sticking up and labeled. TP ( what ever number ) and 5V. One probe to that and the other to ground.
If the 5 volts is low. Then turn the game off and reseat connectors bringing AC to that board, and if your game has a Z connector right there to the left of the board reseat that too.
If that doesn't make things better, then you'll need to remove the power driver board and check Bridge rectifier 2, if it's readings are off, you'll need to replace it.
So EVERY resetting issue I've had (5 for 5) on WPC stuff has always been fixed by replacing Br2, Cap C4 (C5), and repining J101 (J129)...add the jumper wire for insurance.
Loyd's right though...you can bust out the MM and do some testing. Or us lazy people will just shotgun the couple components and be done with it. Chances are you'll need to replace them eventually anyway.
