Hey everyone. Just recently bought my first arcade machine. When I tested it from the buyer I am quite sure it wasn't present but when I got it home there are weird lines that run through the character select and the backgrounds of the game. The only thing is the actual character sprites and animations are not effected at all, they run perfectly fine with no interference at all from the lines.

Any idea what this could be? I can get pics up.

Marvel vs Capcom: Clash of the Super Heroes

I am right between Pensacola, FL and Mobile, AL. Fortunately for now it is still very playable (as I said the characters remain fine as does the majority of the game.) I will get some pictures and possibly video up tomorrow. The beginning "Don't Do Drugs" Screen also shows the lines heavily.

sounds like retrace lines to me. proof will be in the pudding when the pics/vids get posted.

I know exactly what he's talking about. Its very common on CPS2. He has missing tiles. One of the GFX roms is not sending its info. Remove one of the GFX roms in any CPS2 game and you will see what he is describing. You will have vertical bars missing in the backgrounds or sprites depending on the one you remove.

That is exactly what is occurring. I have the video uploading right now to youtube and I will post it up. If that is indeed the case, what do you think I would be looking at in costs as far as repair goes?

By the way, thank you for the replies, I would be completely lost. The help is very much appreciated.

Probably wont cost you anything. Check the pins on the connectors and make sure none are bent/missing. Then detach the two pcbs and reattach then REALLY tightly. It is important on CPS2 or you will have glitches. If that doesn't do it then open up the B-board case and re-seat all of the GFX roms. They are numbered 13-20. Be careful not to bend or break any pins on the chips.

Thank you for the help. Finally grew bold and opened it up and began working on the connections. Unhooked everything from the board and reconnected it and checked some of the other connections, all said and done it worked just fine! I appreciate it.

yeah, they're kinda fickle. I forget if it was my Alpha 2 or 3, I replaced the batteries on both of them, but I put the 2 halves back together and plugged back into the cab to test and I got the infamous blue screen. I thought I suicided it.

pulled it back out, ran the 2 boards without the cases, bam, game worked. of course I went back to the conventional fit and finish and threw them back in the cases, but I made sure the 2 boards were attached VERY tight.

that was 2 years ago. I love Street Fighter Alpha 3. lol
